How To Contend For A Title Next Year

After signing Dirk to a new deal and the whole Miami Heat fiasco, the Mavericks can become title contenders with just one simple move.

That move is to sign Tracy Mc-fucking-Grady.  If we can bring him in, Kidd can have another person to dish to that can knock it down.  Our offense will be pumping.  TMAC brings so much to the table.  Experience, athleticism, wit, and charm.

Don't let us down, Mavericks.  Go out and get McGrady or we might as well not watch the NBA this upcoming season.  Without TMAC, it's inevitable.  The Miami Heat will win the NBA Finals in 2011.

F@#$ TMAC

Why aren’t we talkin’ bout Allen Iverson instead anyway?

Throw LeBron in front of a bus.

Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.

We couldn’t handle Wade, what makes you think we can handle Wade and Bosh?

by Why on Jul 9, 2010 9:11 AM CDT up reply actions

It's not Wade

We couldn’t handle. It’s Wade plus 3 guys in black and white.

No offense

But this is a terrible idea. The guy’s never been out of the first round and the Rockets thrived the second he stopped being involved with the team.

Before you ask why I'm a fan of both the Cowboys and Jets, I'll just say the answer is complicated and that it just turned out that way.

That being said

I wish the Mavs would do something instead of bringing back the same mediocre team they had last season. Dirk really needs help.

Yes, I know our boys won 50 games but the latest playoff collapse makes this team mediocre.

We all know this isn’t a championship team, and we can’t completely say it’s not close until Damp’s contract is traded.

Oops

Just remembered I think he’s advanced once. Still not impressive.

He was injured and didn’t play.

He’s past his prime, and not worth much money. What you saw last season is basically what you’re going to get, except maybe a little bit improved with an offseason to rest.

by Why on Jul 9, 2010 9:09 AM CDT reply actions

I'd be intrigued if he were healthy

this team hasn’t really had the guy that can absolutely fill it up from the 2 position in a long time, so it’d be interesting, but still he’s on the downside of his career and I got no clue how much he’s gonna be asking for.
On another note, I don’t know why, but alot of my friends who are Lakers’ fans seem to think he’s going to them. That would be weird…

regardless of what others say

i think that is an amazing idea. do you guys remember the numbers he put up when he went to the knicks… playing point… he is a big shooting guard and i personally would like to see him in a mavs jersey. i think he would be able to accept the role as the sidekick and could greatly help our team

Beat me to it!

You sir get a cookie, a handshake and my sincere thanks.

Everyone please stop daydreaming about getting more guards, please.

by elbow greater than face on Jul 9, 2010 3:27 PM CDT up reply actions

I really hope

You don’t think Caron Butler is a SG…. because he isn’t. He needs to play the 3, even if it means Marion being his backup, and we do not have a dependable option at the 2. If we have too much of anything, it’s point guards (Kidd, Roddy, JJ). Unless Jones is ready to contribute right off the bat, SG is something that has to be addressed.

by mike_o on Jul 9, 2010 8:49 PM CDT up reply actions

If Caron isn't a SG, then McGrady isn't a SG.

People that play Guards for the Mavs: Jason Kidd, Roddy B, JJ, Jason Terry, Matt Carroll, Caron Butler, DoJo, DSteve.
People that play Forwards for the Mavs: Shawn Marion, Eddy Najera, Dirk
People that play Centers for the Mavs: Brendan Haywood

We still need a guard?

by bbob on Jul 9, 2010 10:44 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't want TMac

But the 2-guard spot is a weakness. Right now only Terry and maybe DoJo should be shooting guards on an NBA team. Kidd, Roddy, and JJ are point guards. Butler is a small forward. DSteve and Carroll are overpaid and relatively worthless. We need to find a way to rid ourselves of Carroll and/or Stevenson, move Caron back to the 3, and acquire some kind of natural 2.

by JoeyJoeJoeJr.Shabadoo on Jul 10, 2010 1:48 AM CDT up reply actions

both of those players (carroll, stevenson) were salary dumps in previous deals

you live with them taking up spots on the bench, and move on, because no one is going to take them at this point.

Hold on a second, I have some requempts.

by buckets on Jul 10, 2010 3:46 AM CDT up reply actions

You get a cookie!

No more fantasizing about guards people! We got all kinds of them and need to develop them and weed out the crappy ones.

Trade interests need to focus on big men and defense if at all possible.

by elbow greater than face on Jul 9, 2010 11:40 PM CDT up reply actions

Fully healthy

I think he would bring something to the table, but he would be playing in Butler’s spot and how much of an upgrade would that be especially with his injury history, my thoughts not very much
