Whats the price on Beaubois?

PrintBlazer fan stopping in here. A little friendly, hi hello & how much is your young french guard worth to you thread. First of all let me say, I was heartbroken when I heard Roddy got hurt. One of my favorite rookies to watch last year easily. I really respect his game & was devastated watching the draft when we passed over him(Same with drafting Babbitt over Seraphin this year, but it seems Marc Cuban has the same mindset of these french players have some serious skills).
I've overheard a few of you say start him at shooting guard, which kind of blows my mind due to his size. Do you think he can defend the 2 spot? Anyways in regards to my fake-trade request on part of Portland, what would it take to pry Roddy away, except Roy/Batum/Oden & preferably Aldridge... Although I do not feel as strong about him as most of Portland's fan base, A trade including him would need to bring back some young post talent.
Let me know what you think, yall got a fine establishment here.

The only reason to start him at the 2
is for him to gain experience. I would imagine small ball will have to be played. Roddy B in a package. It will cost POR Miller and Babbitt. You guys get Roddy B, Ajinca(French center), and Stevenson(cap filler). Fair value in my book.

No way I do that
Miller is another aging PG whose numbers are bound to drop while Babbit is an unproven small forward. Let’s say we add Miller. What do you do with Kidd? Barea? All of the sudden you’re flushed with three PG’s on the same roster. Personally, I’d rather keep Roddy B despite how good Miller is and the potential Babbit has.

When you consider that Beaubois is the single biggest thing representing something like the future of the franchise for the fans of an otherwise pretty, pretty old team, it becomes understandable why they are reluctant to part with Roddy [2nd best scorer on team, best rookie season shooting#‘s ever [50-40-80], rookie scale contract and all ] for anything less than a guy that puts Dallas over the top. I don’t see someone on Portlands Roster that would fit the bill and a positional need for Dallas other than your All-Star. And even that is no slam dunk. Since you ruled your top 3 guys out, i don’t think a trade would be reasonable.
Portland? Do they know i’m a high usage guy? I don’t want to be Roudy 2.0……
Is that Mavs overrating Beaubois? – Possibly, but every team [ except Houston, maybe] tends to overrate their guys.

If Roy isn’t going anywhere, then I find it hard to believe that the Mavericks could pull the trigger on any other players on your roster. I think Aldridge is a nice player, but he’s just a PF, correct? He won’t be able to get the minutes he needs behind Dirk. (how’s his defense? I know his offensive game a little bit from watching bits and pieces of ESPN games and highlights, but defense I don’t know. If he’s a weak defender, then he’s definitely not the greatest fit with Dirk, even if he’s not playing at the 4).
Roddy definitely can play the 2 guard. He’s only 6’2" but he’s got a 6’10" wingspan and a 39’ vertical which make up two or three inches. Even with that, its not always the best matchup, but since we have Kidd at point guard, there would be times that we’d have Roddy guarding the 1 and Kidd on the 2. Carlisle also likes playing zone defense, which helps the smaller players.
He might be 6'2", with large wingspan
but I imagine most any shooting guard can easily post him up, and if that shooting guard has any resemblance of speed, he will blow by Kidd…

You guys have a good thing going, in fact I really enjoy LJRotter’s posts. Very well thought out & explained.. Just expected a little more activity is all – but when the few are active I have enjoyed the back & forth, I think you guys need to poach some members of some Mavericks forums or something…

I think it has more to do with what fans around the city are in the mood for
alot of people around the area are focusing on the Rangers (who are about to make the playoffs for the first time in forever) and the Cowboys (its Dallas and training camp has started)!

As for suggestions. For one, manage to get MavsMoneyBall into the first page of google when someone searchs “Mavericks”(Such as Blazersedge, which is hard when its just Mavs in your main title, Mavsmoneyball, which I love by the way)
Also, “Mavericks forum” would help, as well, because this is essentially a forum with a different layout(I prefer it). You have to contend with the competition which I listed above. The average user tends to go with #1 on google search, the more established community. So what you need to do is provide something that can’t be found elsewhere. The word must be spread, gorilla advertisement may be in order.

I think for the Mavs to even consider trading Roddy to Portland, it would have to be a multi-player trade that included both Roy and Aldridge.
But I don’t think either one of those guys has Beaubois’ potential.
If it was up to me, I’d take my chances with Roddy Buckets
