What about Anthony?

While this is an older post of mine Apparently there have been new developments on the Anthony Front. I really think that Dallas should seriously consider going after Carmelo. Now the Question becomes do you think Denver would trade Melo to Dallas? Or Will Denver try and trade him out of Conferance? Do you think We could Broker a deal with A team out of Conferance ,say the 76's for Andre Iglodala? if you want to weigh in please do so. I also gave a trade for Chris Paul but i edited that out due to the fact that it appears that Chris Paul isnt going any where.

Star-divide

Heres the Story..... Carmelo Anthony apparently wants to become a free agent in two years  my Question is this..

Should we even go after Anthony?  From what i can see the Answer is YES!! Not only would he be a capable Scorer next to Dirk He would allow Shawn Marion to become what he frankly is at this stage of his game  A defensive specialist who can score a little. not to mention 'Melo isnt that bad on the Defensive end him self.

Now here is how My first offer to Denver... assuming that Denver waits to nearer to the deadline to trade Melo

Denver gets Butler, Stevenson, Chandler, Ajinca, Berea, plus Picks

Dallas gets JR Smith, K. Martin, Carmelo Anthony

Now I would be willing to Throw in Roddy if nessecary but only if Melo, and Smith  signs an extension

Do you think this would be a good trade? if this Happened would it affect the rest of the roster?

both but I don't think that is going to happen

however if I had to choose, it would be Melo. Melo for sure would allow us to compete with LA and Miami.

so the hornets receive nothing for one of the best point guards in the league.

it’s all coming together, baby!!!

I'm about to infect you with the back of my hand.

not saying that...

actually they would probably receive more than that in the form of picks and cash…. plus chandler gives them the cap flexibility that a small market team like the Hornets need

by I draft the Cowboys!!!! on Aug 4, 2010 12:49 AM CDT reply actions

Because the superstar FA’s all want to join the small market teams with capspace.

"Mais put… Il est fou ce gars!"

by DOH on Aug 4, 2010 3:36 AM CDT up reply actions

not that really...

if you are a small market team it is imperative that you try to stay under the cap simply due to the fact that your revenue is much lower than a team such as Say Dallas or the Lakers. Thus you are constantly trying to keep your roster stocked with young players due to the fact that they are cheaper than established veterans

by I draft the Cowboys!!!! on Aug 4, 2010 9:55 AM CDT reply actions

I still don't see Paul going anywhere

until the Hornets ownership gets settled. Once that’s done, I think Paul will force his way out by putting the new guy in a tough situation, but if Shinn is serious about selling the team, he’s going to have a very small market if Paul is gone. I think, if anything, the Mavs will have their shot at getting Paul near the trade deadline once a player like Roddy has had more seasoning and looks better in NO’s eyes.

If its a choice between the two, though, I agree with quincy, it has to be Melo. The guy adds a legitimate scorer next to Dirk, which I think would put us ahead of the Lakers in the West.

We've seen that Paul is a diva, too, so...

Chris Paul. Very obvious choice. Anthony is a migraine that the Mavs just don’t need.

by mike_o on Aug 4, 2010 1:47 PM CDT reply actions

Carmelo would be a better fit for the Mavs team right now. Adds a big-time scorer and doesn’t make waste of Kidd.

There’s no realistic way we would get both, obviously there’s tons of faults with that trade even if you add draft picks.

by Why on Aug 4, 2010 4:41 PM CDT reply actions

actually it wouldn't

My opinion is that Paul would actually be a better deal in the long run due to the fact that we would also get Okafor who could play the Back up C/PF role not to mention that Paul is a top shelf Scorer who happens to have Kidd like Court Awareness so if we get him then Kidd could slide over to the SG with Roddy backing him up

by I draft the Cowboys!!!! on Aug 7, 2010 6:23 PM CDT up reply actions

I wouldn't,......

Carmelo would be too much of a distraction for this team.

Just not a good fit. The guy is on a continual effort to show how he's changed for the better.

I don’t get what you’re trying to say. Well, I do but it wasn’t a very strong argument. I just know he gets the job done in the regular season and the playoffs, without being that big of a problem.

by Why on Aug 12, 2010 6:13 PM CDT up reply actions

Well let me spell it out for you.

The guy is a obviously a East Coast homer. Notwithstanding the fact that Mark Cuban and Donnie Nelson has fallen out of favor with top players in the NBA. Melo would not last long here if his heart is pining for a East Coast team. I say good !

You may like him. I don’t and never have. Don’t want him in a Mavericks uniform, or any other player who doesn’t want to be here. If I had my druthers. I’d push for Carlos Boozer, Amare Stodemire, and Joe Johnson in that order . When they had the chance. We all know that Donnie Nelson is much more interested in a Dirk friendly team. Dimming the hopes of Mavs fans for a playoff contending team this season.

Donnie Nelson is much too involved in FIBA.

That is the reason most “Domestically Grown Players” don’t respect the Mavs. Can say I blame them.

How so?,.........You must have missed the altercation with the Knicks.

That’s just one altercation. The guy has too many meltdowns. I really don’t think he’d accept an offer from the Mavs.

I voted neither and I'm not a troll...

I think both of them are kind of overrated and god knows we already have a history of overpaying fools . Yeah maybe Paul would be a good fit but this entire “I want a trade, I don’t want a trade, I want a trade” on again off again thing makes me nervous. Melo is a decent scorer granted, but I just don’t think we’d get our moneys worth on that deal.

I guess if I had to pick one I’d chose Chris Paul but only due to Kidd getting older.

by elbow greater than face on Aug 9, 2010 1:51 AM CDT reply actions

So you would want to keep the team that got bounced out of the first round instead of adding an all-star player that’ll most likely be in the HOF. I see your basketball logic, overpaying is not a big issue, when you’re paying a proven scorer/leader in his prime. You don’t really have an argument at all honestly.

by Why on Aug 9, 2010 11:13 PM CDT up reply actions

really would only want 'Melo if

we could get him without losing Roddy/DoJo… unless he accepts an extension…. but i dont see either happening

by I draft the Cowboys!!!! on Aug 9, 2010 1:58 AM CDT reply actions

What's his current contract worth though?

I doubt I’d wanna see us pay him as much as he’s making now.

While i know that i am not great at doing these up i am glad that you all take the time to read and comment on them also if there is anything you think that i need to change about how i do these posts feel free to let me know

melo's got an opt out after this year

But same as last year, have to be a sign and trade. Only this time, the mavs would have to pull it off b4 the trade deadline. Then resign him after the season. Risky move unless we just give them back expiring contracts.
