DoJo's case for a steady rotation spot

Caron's Butler's season ending injury has paved the way for other guys to step up and fill in the huge gaping hole to an otherwise steady spot in the Mav's lineup. Shawn Marion has been throwing back his early playing years and fill in admirably in Butler's SF spot. DeShawn Stevenson and Jason Terry as usual are manning the No 2 spot with Terry now  asked even more to carry the offensive load left by Butler. Sasha's Pavlovic's signing gives the coaching staff another body at No 3 but he can be seen as a short-term stopgap filler. However, the recent call up of Dominique Jones from the D-League could provide a steadier option for the Mavs and would pay dividends in the long run. If given steady playing minutes, DoJo can contribute in a lot of ways. This video gives a strong case for him to get some burn as the season wears on. (Forgive me if this vid had already been posted before and if so, this is worth a second look)...

I love DoJo

He is one of the Reasons that I am excited about the Future of Dallas, here is how I see it breaking down:

Current Starter——-Replacement
Jason Kidd—— Dominique Jones
Jason Terry——Roddy B.
Brenden Haywood——Alexis Ajinca
Tyson Chandler——Ian Mahinmi
DIrk Nowitzki——Will play Forever
Shawn Marion——?

Not a very bright future

Once Dirk retires (5 years max I would say), I think it’s inevitable the franchise will go through a dark period.

Right now, our main players are old and most of them aren’t holding steady but getting worse. Those back-ups are good role players, with the exception of Roddy showing the possibility to be a relied scorer, not championship contending players.

A 6'4" guard playing SG

Isn’t that a big reason why MEM is looking to move Mayo? They drafted Henry and are starting him over Mayo because Mayo being undersized struggles defensively against SG’s while Henry is 6’6". Aside from Mayo being useless at PG which is why they extended Conley, Mayo’s size has really revealed itself as a shortcoming.

Who is 6-4 playing SG?

Roddy is 6-0
Jones is 6-5

plus I have Jones as my PG

Jet is 6-2 yet has become better defensively(I know it wasn’t Hard to improve)

So who are you Talking about….Kidd? only if we get Chris Paul…

and very similar in size to Dwayne Wade

It’s not all about size or height. It’d be hard to find a better center than Dwight Howard, who according to draft express’ NBA pre-draft measurements is 6’9" without shoes.
The dude put up 33 points and 13 boards against Boston(Shaq) yesterday.,

But DoJo isn’t quite on those guys level athletically(speed and vertical) either.

Still

read my comment more closely… I want DoJo at the Point….not SG, that is where I would want Roddy…

replyfail

but yes, that’s currently their offensive skillset. On D, they would crossmatch. The Vegas games have not shown great chemistry between those two just yet. We’ll see if they even get time together before march…
