FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 29, 2011

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, along with the victim's family, friends and the Dallas Police Department, is getting involved in the search for a criminal who beat and raped a woman in Dallas who was out celebrating the Mavs' monumental NBA Finals championship win in Miami. A Dallas police spokesman says it was the most violent attack they've seen in years, and she is very fortunate to have survived this attack.

Cuban is pledging $20,000 to the fund that already has raised $15,000. Supporters hope to raise up to $100,000 and continue to build awareness so that any new information or leads might emerge that will lead to the assailant's capture. Police have few tips in the case and are waiting for DNA lab results to see if there is a match in the criminal database.

A friend of the victim says: "She is the most diehard Mavs fan I know, and she was just out watching the game and celebrating the biggest night in Mavs history. She simply happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time that night, and unfortunately this could have happened to any innocent woman in Dallas. Along with her family and friends, Mr. Cuban, the Mavericks and the help of the Dallas community, we are hopeful that our combined efforts will ultimately bring the responsible party to justice."

The woman was attacked in the early morning hours of June 13 while walking to her car from a bar in the popular Knox-Henderson district of Dallas. The attacker hit her in the face with their fists, and she was beaten, raped and left for dead. She was found on a nearby sidewalk hours later, unconscious and without clothes.

The victim says she "is overwhelmed with how kind, helpful and supportive people have been."

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 214-373-8477. Contributions to the reward can be made through the North Texas Crime Commission. You will then need to click on "Contact Us" and send a message specifying that your donation goes toward the Henderson Avenue Assault Case.
