I believe everything happens for a reason, whether it be good or bad. It's all here to teach us something and help us get to that better place. So what about 2006, did that particular series help us out in any way? I say yes. Mind you this is with the benefit of hindsight, if this year never happened I would forever be wondering when it would. Eventually it would come but one never knows when. Right now, at this moment in time, I believe it is OUR TIME.

The Mavs have risen to the challenge, which is greater than ever before. Yet we are worthy of it, because we got to where we are. The loss in 2006 affected me, in more ways than can be said here. I remember staying up that night, June 20th, 2006. I just laid in the dark, with nothing but tears to comfort me. We had glory within our grasp and in a blink of an eye it was gone.

This year it is different. Our hero, Dirk Nowitzki, has matured and learned from the past. That is something we all hope to do as we grow older, he has. Our time is now. This has been an incredible run and it CANNOT end with the bad guys winning. Our time is now. I leave you with what I think, is the song to this Maverick run into history. Everything happens for a reason, and because 2006 happened, our time is now.

Goosebumps

I cried in ’06, too. It was rough. I was 12 and I spent every waking moment of the day reading about the Mavs, studying them, or using them in NBA Live 2006. They were my life haha

3 years older than you at the time...but I did exactly the same things.

My heart was broken so badly that I spent most of my nights dreaming about the events back then. I still do though at very rare times.

I am desperately hoping for the Mavs to win it all this year. Even just one title. It’s just what ~~I am~~ we are asking for. Even just one…just this year.

I want multiple titles…one just says we had a good year and caught some breaks….two+? that says this team is a beast…which I think it is

Who doesn't want that? We all do. But...

realistically speaking, it’s so hard to reach the Finals, let alone win it all. This COULD be the last chance. Then if this is it, I wanna win it all because other teams are going to get better from here on. It takes too much stars to align for a team to be “destined” to take it all. We can hope for another appearance, a chance to defend the title IF we win this year first.

yay im the oldest so far. was 24 by then

i didnt cry…i just started to hate the Heat!
i was a college instructor then. i used to give my students seat works and all
so i can have my time watching the games on tv.

Dirk deserves better. This is the moment. Its Payback time! Vengeance is Ours!

I was about to graduate from high school, and I had this one friend that was a junior at the time (she was a friggin’ Spur fan… yuck); Dirk and the Mavs had just owned San Antonio in game 7 of the Western Semis. The next day when I saw her, I didn’t even have to say a word… I just laughed, and she was like, “Shut up!” LOL

Dang I was only 16 (going on 17) at the time.

When they lost in 06’ I was so ticked off, I didnt talk to anyone without a Kendrick Perkins scowl for 3 weeks, and decided I’d hate Stern and the Heat for the rest of eternity. Never had I wanted to break something out of pure frustration.
