GAME THREAD: Dallas Mavericks at Los Angeles Lakers
Dallas Mavericks at Los Angeles Lakers, Jan 16, 2012 9:30 PM CST
WHO: The Los Angeles Lakers host the Dallas Mavericks
WHAT: Tonight we face LA Team #1. Lob City is later this week.
WHERE: Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA
WHEN: 9:30pm CT
HOW: TNT
THE STORY: The Mavericks made the Kings look like fools when they won at home on Saturday. Tonight they look to dry up the Lakers' wet shooting. Well, Kobe Bryant's wet shooting, anyway. OK enough of the silly metaphors. The Mavericks are playing LA for the first time since sweeping them in spectacular fashion during the playoffs. This should actually be a good game, since we'll get to see if our defense is as effective against actual basketball teams. Pop in on Silver Screen and Roll for the opposition's perspective.
And as always, GO MABS GO!

Hey guys I'm back
Mix up the defense on Kobe’s shooting with a good dose of Kidd, Marion, and any other solid defender we have and this should be a good contest. GO Mavs.
how about a VC and Kobe dunkfest
Don't need another perfect line... Don't care if critics ever jump in line...
not really...
it’s really late when the game ends.
"Deion never played quarterback in the National Football League, so his comments are based off the other side of the ball. If you play my position and criticism can really affect you and hurt you and make you play differently, then you’re only gonna be around for so long anyway. The whole objective is to keep getting better. Keep finding ways to improve, and if your talented enough and good enough, you will lead your team to the Super Bowl. That will happen around here, it will."

When do you think the game will be over Dallas time?

lamar returns to LA
hopefully he gives a good performance
I think he really will.
It’s his home court, he will want to do well to show the lakers how they shouldn’t have traded him away.

Adding Orton? HA HA HA
why do you think the Broncos let him go? Whenever there’s a pressure situation, he chokes, just like in the Raiders/Chiefs game Christmas Eve. The Broncos got killed by the Bills that day and Kansas City could have taken the AFC West lead. Nope, it didn’t happen because Orton threw 3 interceptions and threw the game away

That we did, but honestly not many teams would have won that night with the way Brady was locked in. Still disappointed to have the season end, but nobody could have ever dreamed we would be where we were. Just have to build on it next year! With that its officially Mavs season!

Kidd needs to calm the crap down
he’s a bit overzealous with these passes
Managing Editor of MavsMoneyball.com
but this is what he does
he always tries to reward big man or hustle players. Thats why guys like Mikki Moore or Tony Delk had career years playing with him

easy way of Increasing scoring with out causing the game to become a FT contest
establish a rule that states no other player can stand within 3 feet of any player with the ball…..
Here’s a theoretical play from 2010: Snap. Tony takes 7 step drop. Tony looks left at Miles, who is doubled, and looks right to where Roy Williams should be…but instead sees Colombo on his back and a Defensive End foaming at the mouth jumping over Marc’s carcass. Tony proceeds to run like hell and look for Witten
-by CotySaxman on Jul 11, 2011 7:50 AM PDT
Now, if somebody doesn’t agree with that, that’s cool. I also don’t agree with the fact that I don’t have $10 million in my bank account. But the fact that I don’t agree with it doesn’t make it any less true.

I don’t think that for most players shooting 22 shots, which would STILL be the highest shots-per-game average in the NBA if that were the amount he was actually taking, counts as being a distributor. It might for Kobe, though.

The only consolation about Fisher hitting the three
was that Kobe didn’t hit it and have people gloss over the fact that he missed everything before that.
i tell the truth; i lie a lot
Well I think we can all agree that sucked
Big Fat Elephant Balls….So I shall bid you all good night…..

Now, if somebody doesn’t agree with that, that’s cool. I also don’t agree with the fact that I don’t have $10 million in my bank account. But the fact that I don’t agree with it doesn’t make it any less true.

I'm still wondering why it took a 7 point deficit to start giving it to dirk
He quickly made a shot and hit 4 free throws. 6 points in 3 trips. Before that he touched it like 3-4 times in their 17-4 run. Granted he turned it over twice, you have to keep feeding him before it’s too late.
Surprisingly enough I’m very content letting carter take that shot. Back of the rim is “a good
Miss”. I’ll take that loss at LA before I will some of the bullshit ones we pissed away

the lakers' defense
The Lakers’ defense is one of the best in the league. Tonight it also worked pretty well.
well, not really
dirk missed shots that he’d usually make. Kidd had almost 8 shots OPEN tonight and missed. I’m not taking away anything from the Laker defense, the Laker defense is really good. Just not tonight. My brother’s a laker fan and we watched the game together and he admitted that you dodged a bullet with the number of open threes that you gave away.
