While we're still lacking complete details on the 'outburst' in the locker room, we did hear from West early this morning.
Delonte West is one of the best follows on twitter. He's candid and funny and posts some epic pictures. And he happens to be a fan favorite on this site. So when we found out he was suspended indefinitely, my immediate reaction was to think it had something to do with something he said or did on the internet.
I was partly relieved to find out it wasn't, because the social media world would lose a great asset if West were forced to go quiet. At the same time, it was disappointing to hear that it was about some sort of outburst in the locker room because that means that he's immediately going to become the focus of people's "expertise" on mental illness, despite the fact that we don't know what caused the outburst or what actually happened.
What we do know is that West already apologized- to his mom. Unfortunately, in the time it took me to get to work, he deleted the apology from his twitter account. Dwain Price posted right after it happened, but no one seems to have grabbed a screenshot, myself included.
We do know that his tweets said "sorry mama..." and "I showed off on ur birthday again..."
Delonte, something must have really gotten to you to cause whatever happened, and we hope you and the team are able to resolve it quickly because we like you and want to see you succeed.
