Dallas Mavericks center Eddy Curry is likely to start Dallas' season opener on Tuesday night, when the Mavericks take on the Los Angeles Lakers.

Though the Mavericks certainly didn't plan on Curry starting, injuries have forced coach Rick Carlisle's hand. Dallas' front court has been ravaged by injury so far, as superstar Dirk Nowitzki could miss up to six weeks with a knee injury, while center Chris Kaman is nursing a calf injury.

The Mavericks figure to err on the side of caution regarding Kaman, as the 7' center has missed a staggering 152 games over the last five seasons.

If Kaman is indeed unable to start on Tuesday, Curry will likely get the call. Curry spent the 2011-'12 season with the Miami Heat, appearing in just 14 games, and averaging 5.9 minutes per game. Curry played five games this preseason with the San Antonio Spurs before being cut, and consequently, claimed by the Mavericks.
