GAME THREAD: Dallas Mavericks at Minnesota Timberwolves

Dallas Mavericks at Minnesota Timberwolves, Feb 10, 2012 7:00 PM CST

WHO: The Minnesota Timberwolves host the Dallas Mavericks

WHAT: The team we haven't beaten...

WHERE: Target Center, Minneapolis, MN

WHEN: 7:00pm CT

HOW: FSSW | League Pass

THE STORY: We can't seem to beat the Wolves. Blame it on Kevin Love, who will be returning to action tonight after serving a 2-game suspension. To be fair, the Mavericks faced Minny without Dirk Nowitzki last time, and they're coming off of a huge win over Denver two nights ago. At the time of me writing this, Jason Kidd was still only a possibility for tonight's game. Make sure to visit Canis Hoopus for the other perspective.

Here we go Mavericks, HERE WE GO.

thats silly the mavs are so much better when Kidd plays

i’m rooting for t-wolves in general but not this game it’s time the mavs teach them
that they’re the defending champs

by dimitrious on Feb 10, 2012 6:47 PM CST up reply actions

That may be true...

…I’ll take Ricky in this matchup all day long though.

by TrentEdwardsHoF2018 on Feb 10, 2012 6:49 PM CST up reply actions

me too, and Im a mavs fan.

I hope even if Kidd plays, Roddy and West get the majority of the matchup against Ricky.

I'm a pansy firefly. better?

by bbob on Feb 10, 2012 6:55 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah. Totally.

I think teams can hassle Rubio with a suffocating athlete who plays up on him for a chunk of time. A tired Rubio is not the best Rubio.

by TrentEdwardsHoF2018 on Feb 10, 2012 7:00 PM CST up reply actions

rubio is good but he's nowhere near Kidds level

of course if Kidd plays he might be rusty the mavs though are better then the two times you beat them i’m thinking it’s time for the mavs to put minnesota in its place

by dimitrious on Feb 10, 2012 6:55 PM CST up reply actions

You need to watch Rubio play a little more.

I loved Kidd as a player but he’s a shell of his former self. Ricky is the far superior point guard. Perhaps that’s more a testament to Rubio than to Kidds current status.

by TrentEdwardsHoF2018 on Feb 10, 2012 6:59 PM CST up reply actions

Well Kidd will retire as one of the best pgs to ever play a game

I’m not sure Rubio is as good as Kidd during his prime but at this moment in time I would say he is but JKidd is also 17 years older than Rubio…that’s like a young guy versus a grandpa.

"Deion never played quarterback in the National Football League, so his comments are based off the other side of the ball. If you play my position and criticism can really affect you and hurt you and make you play differently, then you’re only gonna be around for so long anyway. The whole objective is to keep getting better. Keep finding ways to improve, and if your talented enough and good enough, you will lead your team to the Super Bowl. That will happen around here, it will."

I said at this moment like during this game, moment. I hope he can be in the shape like he was last year. He was scoring double digits last year in the finals.

Oh definitly...

I don’t want to get into a discussion comparing Ricky Rubio’s first 22 games against J Kidd’s illustrious career. I just don’t think anyone with a decent head on his shoulders is going to say Kidd is anywhere close to Rubio at this point in their careers.

by TrentEdwardsHoF2018 on Feb 10, 2012 7:04 PM CST up reply actions

the last time the mavs played minnesota Kidd almost had a triple double

in like 30 minutes the rest of the team was horrible new gday new game we shall see

haha no worries!

Just remember I’m a big Jet, Dirk or Kidd fan and I pretty much always defend them.

"Deion never played quarterback in the National Football League, so his comments are based off the other side of the ball. If you play my position and criticism can really affect you and hurt you and make you play differently, then you’re only gonna be around for so long anyway. No

“A block/charge foul occurs when a defender tries to get in front of his man to stop him from going in that direction. If he does not get into a legal defensive position and contact occurs, it is a blocking foul. If he gets to a legal position and the offensive player runs into him it is an offensive foul. In both situations, if the contact is minimal, no foul may be called. To get into a legal position defending against the dribbler, the defender just needs to get in front of him. On a drive to the basket, the defender must get to his position before the shooter starts his upward shooting motion. For most other cases, the defender must get into position and allow enough distance for the offensive player to stop and/or change direction.”

If you play my position and criticism can really affect you and hurt you and make you play differently, then you’re only gonna be around for so long anyway. The whole objective is to keep getting better. Keep finding ways to improve, and if your talented enough and good enough, you will lead your team to the Super Bowl. that he’s still really good as old as he is now.

Here's something from

Mavs’ 2010 summer leaguers tonight: Rodrigue Beaubois — DNP-CD. Dominique Jones — DNP-CD. Jeremy Lin — 38 points, 7 assists.

I'm a Wolves fan who attended the game tonight,

and I have to say a few things:
1. It didn’t show in the box score, but every time the Wolves made a run either Dirk or JET would snuff it out. So aggravating.
2. I was surprised Dirk was called for three fouls. He committed about eighty. (Not that that’s unusual—Love probably committed 37 himself.)
3. I’m happy I got a chance to see Jason Kidd live. Dude’s one of my favorite PGs of all time.
4. The Mavs play pesky D. All the poking and swiping was pissing me off. It worked out, though (28 turnovers! WTF?)
5. Next year we’ll sweep you.
6. PEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKK!

Be well, Mavs fans. You’re good folks.

I'm going to brag. I drive the Nikola Pekovic fanwagon.

If you want, we can also throw in Wright or Yawn, your pick.
