It has been quiet around Mavericks F/C Sean Williams since he puked on the Dallas bench in the 4th quarter of the second game of the season against the Denver Nuggets. He appeared in only three games (17 minutes played) before he was send down to the Texas Legends in the D-League alongside Yi Jianlian on January, 6th.
Although Williams is averaging 15.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.4 blocks and 1.1 assists per game and posts career-lows in turnovers and fouls, there are no signs that he'll join the Mavericks anytime soon. That doesn't mean Dallas has officially given up on Williams though. They had the chance to waive him by February 8th and get his unguaranteed contract off the books, but elected to keep him and let him try to resuscitate his career in the minor league. After a bad start, the Texas Legends are currently riding a four game winning streak into the All-Star Break and Williams is a big part of that success. He doesn't quite reach the numbers of last years stint, but his playing time is also down a full five minutes from 33.4 to 28.4.
Right now the center rotation is set with Brendan Haywood, Brandan Wright and Ian Mahinmi all getting minutes and you would think that it would need an injury for Williams to get the call-up. But that's also a good test for the often-troubled center to fight his way through the D-League and show the Mavericks his professional attitude. We'll see how things go from here and MMB will surely keep you up to date.
