LOS ANGELES, CA - JUNE 17: (R-L) Luke Walton #4 and father Bill Walton celebrate the Los Angeles Lakers 83-79 victory against the Boston Celtics in Game Seven of the 2010 NBA Finals at Staples Center on June 17, 2010 in Los Angeles, California. Apologies to Celtics fans and Lakers haters, 'twas the first father-son photo I saw. (Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)
For many, love of sports and the relationships one has with their favorite team has a lot to do with the relationships one has with their family: fathers, mothers, aunts, uncles, etc. Sports are a communal activity and they are kept alive by an oral tradition often passed down from generation to generation, making bonds stronger as they unite likeminded fans together.
If anyone has any stories, greetings, or well-wishes they'd like to share, I'd invite anyone to do so in the this thread. Perhaps some of our readers are fathers themselves, in which case let me be the first to wish you, personally, a Happy Fathers Day.
