With all this free agency buzz going on, it seems like Deron Williams and Jason Kidd A: have chosen to play for Brooklyn Nets next season or B: are just trolling Brooklyn and are heading to Lone Star state (u mad Brooklyn?). If they're going to play in Mikhail Prokhorovs squad next season, I wonder what other targets Mavs have or could have. So I went to the internet and found this guy.
Clipper traded him to New Orleans and It was revealed that Gordon had a pre-existing knee injury that he aggravated during the opening game of the season against the Phoenix Suns after bumping knees with Grant Hill. Gordon finished the season with only 9 games played, but he still averaged 20.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. And now he's a restricted free agent.
Some experts from ESPN have praised Gordon as a top 5 SG in the league right now. And why not? D-Wade is arguably the best, but Kobe, Vinsanity, T-mac, Ray Ray and Joe Johnson are all declining. Meanwhile this kid from Indiana is only 23 years old, has a stellar shooting ability and possesses incredible hops. He's still only a average defender and lacks good passing ability, but he has a damn lot of potential.
sooo... Mavs could offer him 4 years 55 million contract. (NOLA could offer him 5 years 74 million) He's a restricted free agent so Hornets can match any offer Mavs give him, but they just drafted promising young man named Austin Rivers. So if Mavs offer him a max contract, NOLA may not match it because of their recent draft pick from Duke.
So my question to you fellow Mavs fans: Should Cuban and Donnie offer Eric Gordon a max contract?
