Mike Fisher sent along a DB.com exclusive, directly from Kidd himself, and we're grateful.
Like to think we do a lot of good things over here, but we aren't embedded, and we don't have too much in the way of exclusive quotes. On the other hand, DB.com doesn't put mints on your pillow every morning, does it?
For those of you not interested in clicking a link, Kidd basically says "I understand Cuban's perspective, does he understand mine?" and that's more or less it. It's an interesting statement for the obvious reason that it means Kidd believes a lineup of Chandler-Amar'e-Melo and a lot of spare parts is better than Collison-Mayo-Marion-Dirk-Kaman/Brand, about which I believe he's wrong. That is, you can obviously understand Kidd jumping ship when it's Dirk-Marion and nothing but things do look a lot better now.
Incidentally, I sympathize with Cubes on this. Can't blame anyone for leaving for more years or more money, but Kidd took the same offer Cuban gave him from another team, after saying he was going to stay. That being said, I also sympathize with Kidd, since it must be hard for a 40 year old to commit to a team which hasn't been planning to put its best possible team forward unless it lands a mega-star.
