League officials release statement about controversial call

Minutes ago the NBA released a statement about a number of calls from last night's games. Second on the list was the controversial late game offensive foul charged to O.J. Mayo with 1.5 seconds left. The league said

With 1.5 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter of the Dallas Mavericks-Portland Trail Blazers game on January 29, officials called a charging foul on Dallas' OJ Mayo. After review at the league office, the video replay confirmed the play should have been ruled a blocking foul as Portland's Ronnie Price did not get his body directly in Mayo's path prior to him starting his upward shooting motion. Mayo should have been granted two free throws.

Obviously frustrating for Dallas fans; a correct call would've given O.J. Mayo a chance to put Dallas up two with 1.5 seconds remaining. See the video of the play again below.

Clearly a block, though one can understand the call in real time.
