In the event our pursuit of Dwight Howard fails, what would you think of trading Shawn Marion, Bernard James and three first rounders including this year's pick for a package of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry? Boston seems to want to shed these guys for picks and assets and rebuild a young squad around Rajon Rondo. That would make us older than dirt, but we'd have a couple of years more to play the grizzled old dogs making a final run for another ring. There's no future with that team, and honestly maybe not even a present, but you'd be doing Dirk's remaining years justice with a compelling try.
Of course, we'd have traded our picks for the next five or six years, including the pick we gave up for getting rid of Lamar Odom, meaning rebuilding will be slower... It's a deal with the devil and extremely shortsighted, but I must admit the idea is at least somewhat appealing.
