With the utterly baffling coaching/FO shakeup in Denver, it seems more likely than ever Andre Iguodala will opt out of the remainder of his contract.
Just asked Andre Iguodala how Karl firing will impact his FA decision. Answer: "Good question. Need some time to let it sink in." (David Aldridge)
If he opts out, should we make a play for him? I do like the thought of a Calderon-Iguodala-Marion-Dirk-Dalembert/Oden lineup. Iggy + Marion + a center who can play D would be a fantastic defensive core, while Calderon and Dirk can keep the offense humming smoothly. Iggy's lost a step or two, but he's still one of the best two-way players in the game, like Marion can be. If we can get Oden on a trial contract and he's healthy as the reports say he is, and keep Carter, Collison and Wright on the bench we could definitely contend next year. Brand might even come back for cheap to play with Iggy.
Seriously, how does a team let BOTH the current coach of the year and executive of the year walk? It simply doesn't make sense on any level. Yes, they failed in the first round - like OKC and LAL, they got bit with the injury bug at a bad time. Let's not forget they are also the third youngest team in the league. Ownership harakiri, imho.
