The flow offense has slowed to a trickle

The Mavs offense is definitely out of synch. The last 3 games they have lost their flow. I believe that this is because they are slowing down in transition.

It is early in the season, and all teams go through highs and lows. However, when the Mavs play fast and loose, they are a better team. When they become deliberate and let the defense set up against them, they show that they are very average outside shooters.

I understand Chandler Parsons becoming hesitant. His shot looks horrible right now. Teams are giving him many open looks. Often he passes an open shot to give up the ball to someone better defended. However, he was supposed to be a solid 3 point replacement for Calderon. Without Parsons hitting at least slightly above average from the arc, our floor spacing collapses. Teams are defending the drive and the offense suffers.

Ellis, Harris, Parsons, Barea and Wright are better players when the game speeds up. Even on defense, these guys have quick hands and will take a charge when the game gets fast. They have the endurance to play this way through the season. The fear of the running game is wearing down Dirk and Tyson. We need them strong and healthy at the end of the season.

Dirk showed last night that he can still take the team on his back with his shooting from time to time. This will become more rare over the next few years. Even this year, I believe our ultimate success will be determined by our ability to pick up the pace.
