I haven't been active the past year or so here at MMB for various reasons which is really unfortunate. However I do want to keep a milestone watch for Dirk (specifically a points and 50-40-90 watch) over the last 24 games of the season because I'm a stat whore whenever it comes to dirk and to update everyone here as well. Feel free to suggest any milestones that we should also keep an eye on aside from these two and I'll add them. I'll also try and update this post every game, though no guarantees can be made. The official count so far is:
FG: 460-932 = 49.4%
3PT: 94-238 = 39.5%
FT: 255-279 = 91.4%
Now, if Dirk maintains his 40 and 90, by my calculations (with Dirk shooting an average of 16 shots a game), Dirk needs to shoot at least 51.4% from the field (51.3% will put him at 49.9%) for the last 24 games to obtain another 50-40-90 season.
9. Hakeem Olajuwon - 26, 946 (626, 30 games next season)
10. Oscar Robertson - 26, 710 (390, 19 games 04/10 vs Spurs)
11. Dominique Wilkins - 26, 668 (348, 17 games 04/06 vs Kings )
12. John Havlicek - 26, 395 (75, 4 games 03/11 vs Warriors)
13. Dirk Nowitzki - 26, 320
The values in the parenthesis are how much Dirk needs to tie and the probable date and game wherein Dirk could accomplish said feat (going by his average of 21.7ppg). So with Dirk's current pace right now, by the end of the year he will be at roughly 26,785 points passing Oscar Robertson for tenth all time. Not bad for a lanky white dude wouldn't you say?
