Three-Point Shootout Poll

So I was going to do a write-up about all the participants, but NBA.com did one better than I could. I'll just throw up a poll instead.

Steve Kerr has picked Jason Terry.

The newcomers tend to rush through the process, losing their groove pretty quickly while worrying about time running out. That would give the advantage to Nowitzki, a veteran of the competition who is most likely to relax, which is key. Still, I'll predict that Nowitzki's Mavericks teammate Terry will come away with the crown. He's just the sort of big-game shooter who can get hot at the right time.
And ESPN's David Thorpe picked Dirk in a chat saying he jumps the least during his shot allowing him to keep his rhythm better and spend less time per shot. He didn't like Kapono's chances for the same reason - he jumps too high taking more time per shot.

If you find anymore predictions post them in the comments.

Dirk Will Be Starting...
...from the NBA.com All-Star blog:

Breaking news: Mike D'Antoni has said he intends to start Dirk Nowitzki in Sunday's game in the place of the injured Yao Ming.

"I don't think anyone had a better year than Dirk."

But, if Steve Nash were healthy, would he have gotten the start?

D'Antoni told a Dallas reporter he never intended to start Steve. He then admitted, "If you believe that one, I've got some land I want to sell you."

The Hardest Working Superstar in the NBA
From Jonathan Feigen's pro basketball blog (I hate the Rockets but love the Houston Chronicle's pro-basketball coverage):

At about 8 Wednesday night, as I was writing in the Toyota Center media room, I could hear the clanging of the weights in the cardio room one story up. That's not unusual, though I don't normally hear it at that hour. I did not, however, give it another thought.

But about a half-hour later, as I was heading to the car, I noticed a tall, blond guy working on the practice court. Naturally, I thought Jake Tsakalidis had arrived in town and was walking through the Rockets' sets with assistant coaches. Wrong tall, blond guy.

The Dallas Mavericks charter had touched down at 3:30 that morning. They had practiced at around noon. And at 8:30, Dirk Nowitzki, less than 24 hours after hitting the Bucks for 38, was on the Toyota Center practice court working on his shot.

The Rockets should have locked him in there.

i'm on record..
for the 'long-haired assassin' mike miller. not that i wouldn't want either of our homeboys to win, but i'm a gamblin' man. and it is vegas after all.

btw - the celebrity game is painful to watch, but it's like a car accident and i cant look away.
