Good quote from Terry before the game..
"To start a streak, you've got to win a game." Hopefully it gets started tonight..

side note. Devin looks STRANGE in a different uniform.  Hope he has a great game in a Net's loss.

Bass
Has been the highlight of this year many nights.

the mavericks
just look bad and it starts with harris not showing up.  with the way the nets are shooting, the mavs should be up by a lot.  they are having trouble getting easy shots and it seems that kidd's ability to create shots have been nullified

agreed..
It seems like AJ's philosophy is if you are up in the 1st half try out some new combinations and if they start coming back go w/ the starters.

I'd like it better if we could just get a huge lead and ride it into the 4th before changing it up..

However, it seems like some of the new guys are actually playing with some excitement.

Good quarter
Really, the defensive effort and holding the nets to 15 is much more encouraging than the lead.

(And the Stack block on Diop was naaaaaasty)

Net's Roster
If they could revive Carter and Jefferson they could be a top tier team in the East.

PG - Harris w/ a young good backup in Williams
SG - Carter
SF - Jefferson
PF - Krstic, with a young good S. Williams backup
C - Boone w/ Diop at backup

lots of upside.

one might say
They have tremendous upside potential...

Good point...
I see flashes of energy from Jefferson, but I think Carter has cashed it in (unless Bass hits him in the face).

Howard Strip to Dirk 3
Awesome, even when you are losing hope in the mavs, you see those glimpses of greatness.

diop
doesn't even get playing time in NJ.

by ab03 @ Mavs Moneyball on Mar 8, 2008 8:38 PM CST reply actions

Where do you think he'll go after the season?
Any chance Dallas makes a play for him or is he just too far into Avery's doghouse?

by bradybob on Mar 8, 2008 8:51 PM CST up reply actions

doubt it
although, before I thought he was gettign a decent contract but if he rides the bench for NJ, not sure how many teams are going to think he's worth something.

not sure what the mavericks are going to do about the center position.  luck themselves into a bass type pick up?

funny
looked like kidd was asking dirk why he didn't run to the basket for the alley oop.

um...that's not really dirk's thing.

howard
he makes me physically angry - like I want ot throw things at the tv.

by ab03 @ Mavs Moneyball on Mar 8, 2008 9:04 PM CST reply actions

and of course
the run starts.  he lets carter blow by him 3 times, lettign damp get 2 fouls and howard get a foul.  they really should have traded him - he's antoine walkering us to death

Antoine Wright
Not sure if he is just playing up since it's the Nets, but I've been impressed on both sides of the ball, maybe a could option for some more burn off the bench.

Thank god
A third quarter won, and a needed win secured...

congrats dirk
mavs all time leading scorer - does it vintage dirk fashion with a fadeaway jumper over a double team

Heh, agreed
Couldn't have asked for a more perfect Dirk moment.

Way to Go Dirk!!
Definitely the face behind the franchise, couldn't be prouder to have Dirk as the player that defines the Mavs.

Only 4 shots for Howard
keep that up.
I know how to spell Dirk, M-V-P

Nice game from Stack..
I really like him in the starting lineup.  It definitely takes some of Jet's points, but maybe we can move into more of a three point threat role instead of a team leading scorer role.

Congratulations Dirk!
Dirk reaching the milestone of being the Mavs all time leading scorer was so awesome! The Uberman makes me proud to be a Mavs fan each and every time he steps out onto the court. Way to go Dirk!!
And wasn't the bench great tonight? Brandon had an outstanding game. And Allen and Wright were great too. I think sometimes they get lost in the shuffle with everyone talking about Kidd, but it's great to see that we actually got 3 players in the trade that can contribute! I hope Avery continues to let those guys get some burn. It'll be exciting to see Lue play next week...I hope it's sooner rather than later. I know the Nets aren't a good team, but it was sure nice to see the bench play so well. And with Dirk and Stack the only starters to get in double figures  it makes the bench contribution all the better. Hopefully this starts us on a very l-o-n-g winning streak.
GO MAVS!!!
