Eddie Sefko gears up for the Golden State game tomorrow night by seeing if a real rivalry is brewing.

Interestingly, the line of questioning after practice Tuesday led to whether or not the Mavericks "hate" the Warriors.

"Well, I think in the situation we're in, when a team eliminates you from the playoffs, I sure would hope you're not trying to necessarily send anybody any Christmas gifts," Nowitzki said.

"When you play a team in the playoffs, you learn to hate people and hate teams. So definitely, Golden State is one of them."
We're right there with you Dirk.

Or Avery?
"When a team eliminates you from the playoffs, I sure would hope you're not trying to necessarily send anybody any Christmas gifts," Johnson said.
OK, either there was some quote confusion between Sefko and Hubbard, or Avery and Dirk have been spending way too much time together.

--------------------

Hubbard has an article about Diop's improvements so far this season, but it was a small blurb on Erick Dampier that really caught my eye.
Dampier participated in his first full workout Thursday, and although Johnson indicated Dampier will not play at Golden State on Thursday, he could be back on the bench by Saturday when the Mavericks play in Portland.
Wait, in street clothes right? Not only was Damp not slated to return until mid-December, but if he didn't start running again until the middle of preseason he can't be anywhere near game shape.

--------------------

JJT has praise for the hard work Diop put in this offseason and says it's already paying off.
Diop snatched the ball off the top of his high tops and leaped high – in one motion – to throw down a forceful, one-handed dunk that gave the Mavs a six-point lead, at the time their largest of the night.

No way he makes that play last year.
The 13 points Diop scored against Houston was not only a career high, it was more points than he scored in the entire Vegas Summer League.

--------------------

Around the NBA: The night after losing to Dallas, Houston beat San Antonio. Obviously this means Dallas is better than San Antonio.

Golden State lost to Cleveland and will come into tomorrow's rematch at 0-4. And while we're talking Golden State, here's is Baron Davis taking the worst dive ever.

Chris Paul, of the division leading Hornets, had 21 assists last night.

--------------------

This Day in Mavs History
1989 Roy Tarpley had 22 rebounds, the 25th time a Mavs player had 20+ rebounds and the 11th of 13 times Tarpley had 20+ rebounds with Dallas.

Haha
What were the odds that Avery and Dirk would say the same thing?  Unless it was a mistake by the writer.

Also, here is a photo of Avery and Josh's "got milk?" ad:

Roy Tarpley
People forget how freaking good he was.

That 88-89 team was the one that took the showtime Lakers to 7 games in the Western conference finals, right?

I was only 7 at the time, but I remember being very upset. Aguire, Tarpley, Blackman and Derek Harper... those late eighties teams had some serious talent.

Ben Franklin. Gandhi. Jackie Robinson. Winston Churchill. Martin Luther King. Jesus Christ. And now... Dwyade!!!
