Around SBN: Jeremy Lin Continues Rampage, New York Wins On Road

Monday Morning

Apologies for the lack of a post yesterday, but my internet has been out.

Now I've shown up to Work Monday morning and been asked by my boss to do something that will take me away from my computer for most of the day.

Just use this as an open thread for whatever.

Question to get discussion going -- who will finish the year averaging more ppg, Dirk or Josh?

PPG
I think that the first half of the season will be dominated by Josh and that Dirk will resurface and lead the team after the All Star break.  If Josh starts to go off it should force teams to adjust their double and triple teaming of dirk.  That will bring a more balanced attack back to the offense and allow dirk to take over more games.  Remember in the Golden State series all we wanted was for another player to step up so that the warriors would have to play a more honest defense.  So let Josh step up and become a real threat that teams have to game plan against.  You need 2 stars to win a championship.

i think josh
because it seems like alot of teams have the golden state series memorized and know how to play dirk now.

I'll have to agree.
I think the popular strategy for playing the Mavs has now become 'contain Dirk and make someone else beat you'. I haven't drilled into the stats on the losses, but from casual observation, this seems to be the case - on nights when Dirk doesn't give his 25 and 10, and no one else steps up offensively, the Mavs struggle.

I think there is some relationship to this defensive strategy by opponents and Dirk's increased APG numbers. Having more of an opponents defensive focus on one player should increase the scoring opportunities for other players.

I personally think it's irrelevant who has the higher PPG. In fact, if we had 3 guys with 20 PPG at the end of the year, I think that might even give the Mavs a better shot of holding up The Trophy when it's all done.

i agree
still, i'd be nice to have back the dirk that made the famous bucket over the spurs 2 years ago in the playoffs.

My feeling
exactly.  I don't care if JJB has the highest PPG, so long as they win.

Can anyone say, Terrell Owens for 3 catches and 21 yards; Jason Whitten for 15 and 138?

Dirk will
I'll bet my left nut.
