True Hoop Interview with Josh Howard

Henry Abbott landed an interview with Josh Howard, and it's fantastic. It touches on everything from Mark Cuban to NBA conspiracies and even to marijuana and Josh Howard is very candid.

Must read stuff...

Wow
I like Howard a lot.

Is it true they don't test for Marijuana in their random drug tests?

The NBA is rigged. But it's still fun to watch Dirk ball.

Not true
I know it used to be 3 positive tests for marijuana was a 5 game suspension. Not sure now...

i think now..
that three positive tests, and you get to start as the 2 guard in portland.

seriously, i think the collective bargaining agreement limits it to performance-enhancing drugs IIRC. i seem to remember reading a few candid interviews like this with current and ex players that wink-wink-nudge the audience with the fact that pot use is basically ignored in the NBA.

Lamar Odom
managed to get suspended for it.

yeah..
but apparently it was the second time he'd failed the test.

my search turned up this link detailing NBA fines and suspensions, which I was unfamiliar with.

If that list is accurate, only three suspensions were handed out for failed tests since 1994 where marijuana was named as the banned substance. the other two suspensions weren't because of failed tests from the league, but from possession charges. Maybe four or five if you count Roy Tarpley since he refused the test.

Anyway, not to sound like Mark Stepnoski stumping for NORML here but, I don't think the league is serious about preventing players from using it.

nothin' at all, friend.
nothin' wrong with it at all.

and apparently, the testing didn't start until around 1999, so that explains the lack of suspensions until then on the list.

hey dirkatron
with you being this sites official conspiracy theorist... any chance dstern takes over this series in our favor? there is no way that dstern would want a 67 team losing to an 8 seed basically rendering the regular season absolutely meaningless...

and the real question is.. after the mavs dominate tonight.. .will he even need to take over?
