Rumor Mill: Jason Terry for a Top Ten Pick (Noah?)

Mavs Want Noah?

Hey rumors are fun, but this one doesn't seem to make sense for anyone involved.
Dallas is inquiring about the possibility of making a move into the top 10, likely in hopes of landing Joakim Noah. Their main trade bait is Jason Terry. Boston and Minnesota are two teams in particular who could have some use for a very efficient 17 ppg scorer.
Now sure, Noah seems like exactly the kind of player the Mavs needed against Golden State, but that's exactly why this rumor sounds like overreaction speculation. And do the Mavs really want to take on the dead weight contract that would be required to make it work?

Ugh
I am NOT a Noah fan.  At all.

Quite honestly, I'd rather see the Mavs take a flyer on Glenn Davis than trade up for Noah.  If you're going for a top ten pick, aim for Brendan Wright.  Maybe Jeff Green.  Hell, aim a bit lower, take a top 15 pick and get Acie Law.  I'd love to see a PG combo of Harris and Law.  That depth at PG would let Dallas play a SF at the 2 spot, and improve the size and athleticism of the lineup.  I could see a platoon of Stack/Ager working (depending on what they see in Ager in camp, I can't really judge him based on play this year).Or target an undersized SF in free agency to play as your 2.

geez
Are we that desperate to ditch JET? I thought the Mavs weren't even interested in moving him...and for Noah?! That's nuts.

I'm baffled by the JET haters too.
I understand that he's probably the most expendable player we have in terms of value and depth at position, but most of the trade scenarios I see thrown around do not make this a better team, certainly not for the short term. Trading him for a  pick (especially Noah) makes little sense to me.

Lest we forget that the Mavs were fortunate to be healthy at the point all last year for the most part. One twisty ankle and trading JET becomes a serious mistake.

Sorry
I'll always remember him for going 7-25 in the decisive game of the finals, and for jacking up a 3 at the buzzer even though he was 2-10 from long range at that point and the star of the team was playing well in the game.

JET can burn in Hell with Bavetta, Stern, Jackson and Dwyade.

Agree
Now that six weeks have passed since the Mavs' playoff demise and knowing that the Spurs are once again the team to beat, I'm not so sure that trading JET is the right way to go.  The Mavs backcourt of JET and Harris has proven that it can take the Mavs to the Finals and beat the Spurs.  He also brings a great deal of personality to the team, and isn't afraid to take the big shot.  He had a horrible series against the Warriors, but more often than not he's come through.

If Paul Pierce becomes disgruntled and demands a trade, then I'd trade him and Buckner to the C's for sure (of course the Celtics wouldn't do this deal but I can dream).  If the Mavs braintrust deems that JET is expendable, I'm sure they'll make sure any trade fills a CURRENT need.

Getting Matt Barnes or that type of player in free agency would be ideal.

I just threw up a little in my mouth
when I read the name Matt Barnes in this thread.

WTF?
I know the mavs are jonesing for a low-post threat, but I don't see where this guy fits that bill.  He has some limited upside offensively from what I've seen of his college career.  Granted, he is athletic and a good defender, but how does this really help the mavs?  I just don't see it.  Thankfully it's just a rumor.

How about aiming a little lower in the first round and going after a player that can contribute on BOTH ends, like Splitter or McRoberts?

Big Baby just screams bust to me, but maybe I'm judging him based on Traylor and Oliver Miller.

Totally agree
Mavs may need a post player, but they need one with an offensive game. Noah is not that player.

I hate Noah something fierce
but I also hate the stupid Jet.

This would be a win-lose. We don't need Noah, but we'd be getting rid of "Mr. 7-25 in game 6"... and that's never a bad thing.

Maybe we could get Ricky Davis in the deal. He's crazy. We need some crazy.
