Just starting the game...

Dalembert...
Just a thought... obviously the Miller trade rumors will come up in tomorrow's papers with us supposedly needing a PG (which I disagree with), but what about SD? He is only 26, averages 11 pts, 10 reb, and 2.5 blocks...

SD's contract... ouch
Is a combo of SD and ED the same as shaq? hmmm...
What would we have to give up for him? Diop's contract is 2 mil, george has a 2 mil, stack (who I actually am opposed to getting rid of) has a 6 mil deal, but I'd like too see cuban maybe get creative with this instead of losing stack, unless phi was willing to buy him out, and we could resign him with our 5-6 mil deal that we still have...

Meh.
You'd have to trade 10 Diops and 5 Georges to make it even value.

True...
But then again, Damp was a 12 and 12 guy when he got here... now look at him. HA!
I actually like damp, bc I think we really do play better when he is out there, he doesnt cause problems off the court, and most importantly the team respects the grunt work that he does night in night out. At least much more so than they did a few years ago.

Damp doesn't always get his due.

That's why I say 'fit'.

and the 76ers...
I thought we had figured this small defender, send the double team when dirk takes his all too predictive spin move thing out?? I guess not. I guess this goes to show, we havent come too far from last years playoffs in terms of teams being able to to figure out this iso offense... I know, I know, we dont have everyone, but what if we dont have everyone in the playoffs?
I guess we can use that excuse that we didnt have everyone mentality next year and continue with hope of things that "could've been"

what do you mean??
by Toddy on Feb 11, 2008 8:19 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Something needs to be done....
Or, you could just bust the team up now for draft picks since your team only has the 5th best record in the league right now.
I suggest remaining calm. 31 more games until the season starts.

This team needs a shake up...
They've been flat, unmotivated, and seriously lacked any type of intensity far too often this year. Get someone in here to shake this up and freshen up that locker room.

Thats a good point...
But just because we bring someone small in though, that doesnt mean he will automatically get into avery's rotation... thats seems to be pretty hard to do these days for the guys outside the starting 5, unless these injuries continue piling up...

Small move...
It kind of chaps my ass that Cuban is all the sudden uber-concerned about the payroll and how much he's spending on the luxary tax. This dude wanted to throw his money around like CRAZY when this team was multiple pieces away from a championship contender. Now, we're probably one legitimate piece away from a Larry O'Brien trophy, he wants to sit on KVH's contract (the only real asset we have outside of the Big 3) and hope someone gives us something valuable for the bunch of crap we have on the roster outside of Dirk/Josh/Devin ... Nobody wants the Terry or Dampier BS contracts. Diop is nothing more than a throw-in. Stackhouse's contract is at least manageable, but he's not overly attractive considering how he's played this year. Bass has some value, I'd assume, but again, I think he's another guy they're real questionable on moving, because they see him as an Amare-stopper. But, you've got to give up something to get something.
If they think this team is built to win a championship without any roster moves, I think they're sorely mistaken, and I think that's an overwhelming majority opinion...
Does anyone else feel like the Cuban of 2003 would have made some serious shake ups on this roster by now? Cuban of old would have dove head-first into the Kidd, Pau, Shaq, etc rumors and done everything within reason to get them in Dallas, money wasn't an issue. He didn't always make the best moves from a personnel standpoint, but you knew he was out there trying, willing to shake things up. Keeping the team together and intact after the 2005 Finals trip seemed like a great idea. And it was, for 82 games. After the playoff collapse last year, and the inconsistent, unmotivated, seemingly bored performances in the first half of this year, this team needs to do something.

Ok...
So maybe we all need to calm the HELL down (myself included, because I know I'm all over the map about this team right now), and wait and see if we show up in the big games (like phx, SA, Lakers, NO, etc) and go from there. I'd rather lose to the 76ers and Nets all day, as long as we beat the big boys in the big games, because those are the mental edges we need in the playoffs.
Plus GS is in the 8 spot and I dont see them moving up above the 7th, so I dont really mind flying under the radar and missing those guys in the first round.... Let Phx (who I believe has lost to them twice already this year, and they play again on wed) LA, or NO deal with them in the first round...

I find myself running through these same scenarios
It ain't no cupcake in the West this year. There will be a couple of good teams that don't make the playoffs this year.
