Still trying to figure out this Magloire thing...
Here's some highlights of his career... awhile ago mind you, but still, at 29 the potential he has could be something that only Avery and Pop Jones could get back out of him...

First dallas poss of game
kidd was raped down low on his arm... no foul called...

On another note, kidd looks funny with his whole head and face shaved... like a little baby face

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 5:44 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Damp
getting some early baskets early on from kidd... kinda exciting cuz he's like a new player with kidd on the floor that we really havent seen before...

now if he can just dominate the glass and stay out of foul trouble

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 5:51 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Damp needs to get in the game..
If he would just be ready, Kidd would probably hit him every time down the court.

by bradybob on Feb 24, 2008 5:51 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

so
josh howard seems to have benefited the least from kidd being here.  kind of opposite of what people were originally thinking.

and dampier is benefiting the most.

by ab03 on Feb 24, 2008 5:52 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Josh so far
has seemed to still want to settle for some iso plays and jump shots, we'll see though if this changes

Damp definitely has been the biggest surprise, and after the NO game, thought that he definitely would benefit the most if he works on CATCHING the damn ball and finishing around the rim

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 5:55 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Josh's game has been changing..
I think that over last season and this one he has eliminated a lof of the slashing in his game and refined his shot.  I think it's less kidd and more him being hurt and not being able to find his shot again and get back into rhythm.  I wish he would compensate by going back to slashing some more.

6 min into game...
kidd with 5 assists already on 5-9 shooting for the team

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 5:53 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Bass
is suffering on both ends of the floor as of late

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 5:59 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Defense
definitely needs some time to gel together, we look really lost at times...

But the offense looks better than ever, dirk especially.  His jumpers are when he comes off of screens, and when he's not knocking those down, he is posting up and taking it to the rim.  Havent really seen this type of consistent play from him...

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 6:01 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

George...
so based from what I have read and what i am seeing here... he is our back up PG now??  WTF?

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 6:04 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Line up for us
blows... all our points are coming from josh doing iso stuff on the perimeter

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 6:15 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Smith
the 270 "rhino" (as the timberwolves announcers call him) just did work on Dirk with a spin around move lay up...

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 6:27 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Something positive..
J Ho has started running at the rim after he thinks his shot is off, he stopped doing that midway last season.  I hope he keeps it up and his rebounds get back up in the 8-10 range.

by bradybob on Feb 24, 2008 6:35 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

good point about josh
I wish damp dirk and bass had josh's rebounding instincts.  It at least shows he's trying...

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 6:40 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

half time...
wolves shooting 59%... jefferson is destroying us inside, and mccants couldnt pay a dallas defender to get a hand in his face when he shoots...

We went away from attacking the basket down low when damp went out of the game in the first and bass struggled underneath.  Josh still doesnt seem to be himself, and the no calls on a few of the plays isnt encouraging him.

Dirk
on fire in the 3rd here...

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 6:56 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

kidd on defense
he is very active on the help defense, he has 2-3 strips tonight that have turned into points, except one that I remember turned into a turnover when he tried to pass it behind his back.

But his one on one defense seems to struggle a little.

Now that avery doesnt have to worry so much about the offense, I hope he gets the defensive mentality that he had prior to this year and starts really preaching it.  Its definitely the weakest part of our game right now IMO

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 7:00 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Agreed..
Everyone is getting ready to run instead of worrying about giving hard looks.

by bradybob on Feb 24, 2008 7:04 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

kidd
has he hit a jumpshot yet while in mavs uniform?

by ab03 on Feb 24, 2008 7:04 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

he hit a 3 this game..
but has missed a few easy lay ups... but with 13 assists, and DAMPIER benefiting from a lot of those, I am ok with him takin it easy with his 38% shooting and giving up to someone who knows how to score... for now at least

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 7:06 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

josh howard
he's playing straight terrible.

Dampier:
the beneficiary of 3 Kidd assists. Eat it, Vescey

by Dirkanoid on Feb 24, 2008 7:11 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

bench.
like'd to see them produce something more than 7... check that 10 points after stacks three... bench has to be shooting 20% for us

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 7:12 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Kidd's gotta take those layups..
a couple of plays right under the basket he's kicked out for the 3...j ho's wasnt even close.

by bradybob on Feb 24, 2008 7:14 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

yah what the hell
2 wide open layups after nice postup moves... killin me!

by zkmavz on Feb 24, 2008 7:17 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

brandon bass foul on ratliff
just plain stupid... if theo ratliff wants to take a 17 foot jump shot... step away... dont be an idiot bass

by zkmavz on Feb 24, 2008 7:18 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

he's been that way
all game, on both ends.  Just isnt playing smart Ball at all.

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 7:19 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

3rd quarters... again.
wow guys... with 5 min left in the 3, we were up almost 10 after being tied at half time. This is really sad.  How we continue to play like this in 3rd has to be concerning.  It seriously seems like it is something that is consistent with EVERY team, bad or good that we have seen.

On a positive note, luckily it's the 3rd quarters play that can kick our butts into gear for the 4th, but its a dangerous habit we have formed...

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 7:18 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

I see someone else
has noticed that we play bad in the 3rd quarter.
I know how to spell Dirk, M-V-P

by srdmad on Feb 24, 2008 7:21 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

2 quick fouls
against the wolves in 40 seconds... lets hope we capitalize on this

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 7:21 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Allen is in at the start of the 4th
WTF is up with these random line-ups when the game is close to the end and so close??

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 7:23 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Fastbreaks
with out kidd in the game = Jumpshots
With kidd in the game = layups AND DAMP running the floor.

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 7:26 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Boston was losing to Portland in Portland
now look at the score.
I know how to spell Dirk, M-V-P

by srdmad on Feb 24, 2008 7:27 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Why can't we do that.
I know how to spell Dirk, M-V-P

terry
i like how he breaks out to the other end after every shot attempt by the other team... but lets hope we dont focus too much on that and forget about our defensive assignments

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 7:32 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

would be a nice fit for his 1000th game
that'd be his 100th TD also right?

But I'd still rather him not worry so much on the scoring as much as the assists, rebounds and keeping the turnovers down

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 7:42 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Finally!
Kidd makes a layup!  He had been struggling with those as of late...

Again a nice 4th quarter by the mavs

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 7:44 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

how many games
will Harris play with the Nets before he has the 32 assists that Kidd has gotten in the last 2 games?

by BrodyV on Feb 24, 2008 7:58 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

well at 5 p/ game...
maybe 6-7 games.   But how many lay-ups will it take kidd to make for us before he reaches what devin did for us in one game?  Lots of pros and cons with each...

I'm interested too see how kidd goes up against parker, nash, and DAVIS most of all.  We play utah next week, and williams should give him a run for his money.  But is really nash, parker, davis, and fisher who are all a little older and who we can give a more realistic comparison too when measuring up kidd... defensively at least.  I dont care too much that kidd tries and scores for us, unless its driving in for layups, but we all know his outside shooting is BAD.

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 8:05 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Kidd
should shave his head and face before every game from now on.

by mavic on Feb 24, 2008 8:13 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Kidd was awesome
he and Dirk won the 4th quarter. End of story.

The thing I like most about Kidd is that he is smart and clutch when it matters. Or at least thats how he's always been.

I'm not saying his our saviour, but I like his play even against lowly teams.

by aluzzi on Feb 24, 2008 10:16 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

WTF is up with Josh??
The bad shot selection, bricks continue. Why doesn't he ever slash anymore? Always those fadeaway jumpers that isn't his game!! ARGH.

J5 thoughts on the trade
I'm just gonna throw this out there, but maybe Josh wasnt a big fan of this trade because, well, Devin was his buddy.  And his play is indicative of how he feels about it.

I havent really heard what his opinion on the trade was, but I cant imagine seeing Devin, especially after Marquis last year, really rub him the right way...  Its no excuse, but still, I am gonna give Josh some time to get out of this funk right, whether it be from his back, or the fact that he is pissed about losing his friends.

I dont really see anyone on the team now that he could be tight with anymore... considering the average age now for our team is now 30+ and josh is 27...  Bass maybe? (whose 23ish) I dont know.  But something is definitely up.

Turns out also, that Josh was sick tonight
reading the post game quotes, Avery said Josh had food poisoning.

by Toddy on Feb 24, 2008 11:02 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Josh is going to be ok..
I don't believe that bs about Josh not liking the trade because he was friends with Devin and Diop. Hell, he was really good friends with Marquis and he got over that! He's been injured and I guess no one noticed anywhere but Avery said after the game that Josh was sick tonight with food poisoning. He gutted it out because that's our Josh...tough...not gonna let something like that get him down. Josh is a pro and a damn good baller....he's going to be just fine! And from what I've seen in interviews he's just as excited about playing with Kidd as any other Maverick is.
