Around SBN: Can Tebow Say No To Anything?

Sam Smith, Shaq, the Mavs, and Josh Howard

I'm a nice guy, and I don't like to just smear people on this blog, but when I read this article by Sam Smith this morning I just started laughing at it's absurdity.

The Suns, NBA sources said, appear to be reacting both to the Los Angeles Lakers' acquisition of Pau Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies last week and word the Dallas Mavericks were putting on a strong push to acquire O'Neal to pair with Dirk Nowitzki. Insiders say the Mavs were willing to give up Josh Howard and owner Mark Cuban was pushing hard for the deal.
No, effing way.

Update [2008-2-6 16:21:47 by Wes Cox]: There is also a reference to a Josh Howard trade in the AZ Republic this morning, however the writer of that piece had the reference removed from the print edition and was hoping it would not appear online either. That means Sam Smith is the only person reporting this and any rumor you hear about it started with him.

Yeah, I don't get that guy either.
Granted, I don't read all of his columns, but it's a pretty regular occurrence that someone forwards me one of his articles that makes me scratch my head.

I suppose near the trade deadline, reporters can pretty much make up whatever they want without needing any real evidence of the rumor?

Pretty sure
that rumor started in phx, to make themselves feel good about giving up marion for shaq... I doubt we would've parted with much more than diop, george and a kvh contract for him... thats about it.

I am sure they came to us first, we offered them the above or similar, phx caught wind of it, and with the whole laker deal and marion bitching that had been going on there, phx moved on it, and miami (for now) seems to have gotten the better end of a deal for shaq...
