The AAC
is silent tonight

pretty disappointing actually
I know I have my moments (more so when the team is WINNING actually than when not... for some reason when the team has problems I find that I have a lot more to say than when all is right in mavs land) where I dont follow the mavs as close as I would like too...

But seriously, even sunday against San Antonio which is usually the biggest games of the year, this place and even the AAC crowd at times seemed dead.  Its actually kinda disappointing. I guess our fan base is really more bandwagon-ish than I thought...

Dallas
has to be one of the worst bandwagon cities. (Cowboys excluded)

well
maybe this teams need some more characters like Team Obliterator and Tony Romeo to get people to stay on board with the Mavs... (I know it's a skip bayless saying, and I cant STAND HIM... but the guy makes some pretty good points about these two guys)

Half time recap... from what I saw...
Well my power was out for most of the first half, so I had to follow the score from my phone.  I did catch the last 4 min of the second quarter, and this is what I saw...

The 32 year old big man is playing big for us.  12 points, 12 boards... gheez why cant he ALWAYS play like this... even average this in a full game??  Man this would be huge.  At any rate, as I have mentioned on here before, Damp has benefited the most (other than Dirk maybe) from the Kidd trade.  The few plays I saw from him, he was rippin boards, and throwing them back down WITH AUTHORITY.

The rest of the team is shooting 40 %, and 30% from the three... the bright side of that, Kidd is 2/3 from the 3 point line, but has missed all other shots attempted (5 total).  Josh is back to is "post trade" self with 2-11 shooting... I'm not sure why, but he has to make the decision to be better.  I know everyone is looking at kidd to lead this team, but IMO, with Dirk gone, he has decide that this is HIS team, not Kidds.

Should be a good second half.  Not sure why Avery went with Allen to start... I guess because Allen is more of a veteran... so much for the debate that the Avery-Cuban debacle was over Bass's PT... he only has 6 min in the 1st half.  What a joke.

Damp
That is precisely why I hate that guy (as a basketball player..I'm sure he's a terrific individual who regularly gives to the needy and clothes the homeless in his spare time).  He'll do something on the court, and your "Mavs Wiener" moves a little.  "Man..maybe he's turning the corner finally..can Damp be a force under the bucket?"  Then he takes terrible fouls on 4 straight possessions, falls asleep as the endless parade of alley-oops and layups bury the team and you wonder what in the hell he's thinking about.  It may be completely impossible for Damp to actually spend more than 10 real-time minutes concentrating on basketball.  After that, he needs a little mental vacation for 5 minutes.  Then, he realize that strange smell on his face is from the ballsacks of the opposing players who keep dunking on him uncontested while he's been thinking about classical french cuisine, the skyrocketing cost of oil or whatever the hell he's been thinking about INSTEAD of protecting the paint.

4 straight WIDE OPEN jumpers
to open the half for the clippers... all coming off of screens...

Why can't we execute like this?  Hell even Smush Parker can hit those... you have to think Kidd could POSSIBLY hit a few of those too.

Allen
finding himself shooting (and missing) 23 ft contested jumpers... that's two already this half with 9:38 to go in the 3rd

Thomas
continues to hit the 3... hit two in a row now with Damp unable too go out there and guard him...

Still damp is making him pay on the offensive end

Fast breaks
always looking like we are lost when in transition... especially if Josh leads it.

Terry in for Allen??
So Kidd, Terry, Stack, JOSH at the 4 and Damp at the 5??  hmmm... interesting.

Dirk Update
was able to ride the bike today.  He's taking the boot off around the house

It's a good sign...
and more likely means the injury is much less severe than reported, or perhaps even a mis-diagnosis.

I missed the segment where he mentions his recovery efforts, but thankfully someone saved it for us. It's awesomely hysterical. I'm not certain he doesn't have a head full of painkillers.

Funny stuff.

nice that hes getting better but...
id rather have dirk just chill the rest of the season then pick up a nice lottery pick next year. maybe even dumping kidd and another salary in order to pick up a later pick for some more quality youth
give aj the axe

To: longhorn and fellow followers...
'Don't leave the bandwagon yet.' Seriously, why would you? You've got all summer to bitch; why make yourself unhappy prematurely?

I really like how Stack is playing lately
He's another one that has improved greatly since the Kidd trade.

J-Ho was actually following his jumpers last night, and look at the results.

I know that game last night didn't prove anything, but now we're a game and a half up on GSW all the sudden.
