Around SBN: Champions League Preview with Jimmy Conrad

E-Motionless

It's the end of the 3rd, the Mavs may win but will probably lose.  I could take a Mavs loss if this team had any emotion at all, everyone looks like they want this season to end as soon as possible.  This team is sickening tonight.

Star-divide

Wasn't the point of bringing on all of these Vets to add some players and have anyone actually get excited about big plays, about playing period?  I'd trade Malik Allen, Magloire, Juwan Howard, and Antoine Wright for Darrel Armstrong right now.

Tough expectations..
..with your best player watching from home.

Make no mistake, Houston is playing out of their minds right now. The defense wasn't that great, and when the Mavs did defend, the Rockets made tough shots. Just one of those nights......

The jump shooting bothers me too, though. They sure could use a quick guard who can penetrate to shake the offense up. I hear that the Nets have one like that. I guess we'll get to see him on Saturday.

I just want to see them excited...
Devin wasn't an explosion after every basket but he and Jet and Josh played off each other well.  Now, Dirk gets excited but it seems like it takes an outstanding play to get the bench on the feet.  Another point,  I'd like to see our made to missed ratio of layups tonight.  It doesn't matter how much you miss your star, if you can get to the rim you have to make more then they made tonight.

I cant believe
we didnt win one of these games against the top contenders...

damn this team... we are now tied with GS of all teams with losses... I know that we kid around about not making the playoffs around here, but its a more of a reality than this team really seems to care

I imagine its frustrating for them as well, but at the end of the day, is it still "just a job" for them now??

Good job Avery
making defensive adjustments to Tmac and Alston...or NOT.

The team has obviously tuned him out. Just shows how much weight Dirk carries for both the team and the coach.

Glad to see we traded Harris only to run the same iso offense that we ran with Harris. Now Avery's calling out Kidd to be a scorer. Man that guy is delusional, never playing to his players strengths, never making adjustments, same tired system that has failed in the past...

Get ready for a busy offseason!

Avery: the biggest joke of a coach in NBA history
I mean.. if this whole saga of Avery coaching wasn't so sickening it would be the most comical thing ever.  You can't make this stuff up.  This is a Will Ferrell movie except instead of will ferrell Avery should be played by the undercover brother.

It's not like Avery just became clueless overnight.  It's just that Dirk carried him in the beginning.. and it probably took Dirk's entire career out of him to carry him this long.

But why didn't everyone see this sooner?  Avery has been doing the crazy stuff he does to Kidd to dirk from day one.

Sorry Choco...
I don't agree with blaming ALL this on Avery...the coach can only do so much.  Coaches coach and players are supposed to play.  While there are times that I question Avery's judgment, I feel that at some point the players have to step up themselves and be more accountable.  This is the game of basketball and the only way that you can win the game is to actually make the ball go into the bucket more than your opponent.  This seems to be the Mavs biggest problem (with no defense running a close 2nd)!!  I just don't get it!  You'd think at some point during the game your common sense would take over and say "hey, my jump shot is not falling tonight so instead of finishing 3/30, why not drive to the hole and kill two birds with one stone"...get a chance to shoot free throws and maybe establish your rhythm and get the other team in foul trouble...AHHHHHH!!!!

No confidence!!!
Watching the Mavs huddle up prior to the game was even awful.  This is normally the time when a team starts to get hype & ready to play lights out!!! Not the Mavs...it seemed like they barely got into the pre-warm up hype...Just no emotion whatsoever!!! I'm tired of all the excuses!  What is going on with this team and what have they done with the MAVS!!!!
