"I have to say it’s the first time since I’ve owned the Mavs when I’ve walked downstairs and saw our centers taking jump shots and that I didn’t cringe," owner Mark Cuban said.

Mark Cuban vs. Mark Cuban

An interesting essay on the paradoxes of Cuban. Very compelling as it retraces Mark's boldly radical approach to roster building early on, to his much more traditional approach the last couple years to the current unheard of retooling-the-champion-on-the-fly directive.

Q. If you were to switch to the NBA, what team would you want to play for? [Sue] Bird: The Knicks. Q. You wouldn't want to play for the Mavs or the Heat? Bird: Maybe for Mark Cuban. But I associate NBA basketball with the Knicks. It's a no-brainer.

From a Seattle Times interview with Sue Bird, starting guard for the Seatlle Storm, which won the WNBA Finals last year. This may not truly be a Mavs-related link, but I would still consider this quote a compliment to you all for winning one for the good guys!

790 The Ticket, Miami: "Is there a more difficult owner in the league to deal with outside of Cuban?" Stern: "Probably not, but it’s good copy. And I think that Mark in the broad sense is good for the league."

For reasons not clear, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban left his bench-area seat with less than a minute remaining in the game walked out of the inner-arena area. While the teams huddled in timeout with 39.2 seconds remaining, Cuban walked past the media work room, staring ahead, head shaking. He then walked through a hallway door and into the Mavericks locker room, where he apparently watched the end of the game. After the game, as reporters waited outside the locker room during the league-mandated cooling off period for players and coaches, Cuban exited the locker room and walked past reporters without comment. Still walking by himself, he walked out the Rose Garden's back dock, got into a vehicle and left.
