A fatal flaw in Reggie's reasoning
I want to give Reggie time. I want to preach patience. I want everyone to understand that I'm not thrilled that the Kings got blown out and lost the game in 1 qtr, with Paul Millsap hardly doing diddly shit. (Interesting premise some SLC Dunk posters had about re-signing Millsap instead of Boozer.) I suggest you read it over, along with the article that spurred the talk. But if that doesn't juice you, this quote should:
For now, Jazz management might consider dubbing Millsap the "Bargain from the Bayou." This season he is only making $797,581, which is the NBA equivalent of a Fortune 500 CEO earning about $10 an hour.
Either way, I just want to get the disclaimer out that I don't blame Reggie for anything, except what I want to talk about with regards to a certain "fatal flaw". I want to make this clear, as I'm still in Reggie's corner, and do not want this to be taken as anything else except a vote of un-confidence with regards to Spider Head.

Amick strikes gold, and well, keeps striking it
First off, Amick is pretty much the genius that makes the ship, the Good Bee, work. Dude, is absolutely one of the best writers, period, covering the game of basketball. Best "beat-writer", or anything else aside, dude is flat out awesome. There are many others that strike me as just as worthy, but none of them cover the Kings. First what I would do is read the Blog entry of Sam's that he posted over-night. I'm probably one of the first to read it, and as such, will be one of the first to comment, mebbe. Off the top of my head, there is a lot to chew on. But for those counting, there are alot of important things said.
- The Family doesn't want Geoff to leave until he's ready (Good!)
- John Thomas is in seemingly good shape within the franchise (Interesting)
- Levien is a bright cat, which underscores how valuable he'll be to the team before you even encounter the future and what that holds (Hmmmm--Agent talk)
- Gavin Maloof should represent the family in public, in regards to the Kings (Ya think?)
Overall I feel this was a great moment that accompanied an off day. With the team probably making more noise in the front office, as opposed to the court, this is a team that has stronger ties than originally thought 2 weeks ago. That's good news. After the jump some of the details.

Links, Trolling (and the festive joy it brings for all), other craptastic thoughts, and Robert Horry belongs in the Hall?
Try talking to you While you do, while you do I swap places with you Just to see things through Just sing me the tune And you'll see I'll keep it here for you I'll wait for your cue You wrote down all the words Black and white On a wall Just keepin' it so Yeah you know how it goes No plans for a change, nothing strange No not today no way Now sing me the tune
Cash it in and throw it all away Never needed any of it anyway So you twist and you turn Uncomfortable fool, you'll never learn But you can take a stand Forget all about the plans California rose
Side one track two On a record of you I've even stuck on a groove That I don't wanna lose Just play it again, as a friend It's your favorite worn-in shoes Now sing me the tune Cash it in and throw it all away, yeah Never needed any of it anywaya
So you crash, and you burn Sometimes the road will twist and turn Some of this, less of that Forget all about the map California road Cash it in and throw it all away Never needed any of it anyway.....
I have many things to say today, as I've spent a lot of time in different places. But BlueJohn asked me to spend a minute on trolls, and I thought I would spend a moment on the King Bonehead himself, Stinky. So before the Jump, I'll discuss my feeling about Trolls, and Stinky. After the jump the real talk will commence.
I rank Stinky somewhere in between Hitler and Satan. If I had a choice to kill both, I would bring an uzi, and 4 or 5 banana clips. I'm pretty sure 1 clip would do it, but emptying all 4 or 5 would make me feel good. (Or if you prefer the 2 bullets and choose to kill Stinky, Satan and Hitler, I'd probably settle for choosing to shoot Stinky twice.) The other stupid Blazer fans who've come in here, who are not to be confused with the intelligent Blazer fans, or the idiot who posted the Monta Ellis is better than Kevin Martin craptastic crapfest/fanpost, are just what they are. Stupid bandwagon fans. Onto Stinky.
Stinky really offended me last night with his (I'm just assuming it's a guy on the assumption woman can't be that worthless, but I suppose it's possible) "Bring Bobby Hurley Back" name. First off, if there is any subject that is taboo, to me, Bobby Hurley and Ricky Berry head that list. Berry for obvious reasons, and even though I didn't follow the team in 1989, I feel his ghost still hangs a bit around Arco. Even though Celtics fans love to whine about Len Bias (deservingly so), I've always wondered what Danny Ainge's take would be in all of that. He knew Ricky (played with him), and might have known Len. Certainly he knew the effect that not having Len had on the Celtics post 1986.
Still, the reason I'm offended with Stinky's S/N was that the fans boo'd Bobby after he came back, due to the fact he couldn't play the way "the fans" expected. Jerry Reynolds pointed it out in Reynolds Remembers that Jay Williams, who got hurt riding a motorcycle, had lesser injuries and still hasn't come back to this day. Bobby came back within 6 months of nearly dying, and having his brain splattered on the back roads behind Arco. When you're saying you want Bobby to come back, in effect you're saying you want to have a guy who had to have his brain re-attached to his head to live, and then made a courageous, and under-appreciated comeback, to play 5 more years in the NBA. That isn't just wrong or cruel. It's desperate pithy crap is what it is. Frankly, Bobby's comeback never got the attention it's deserved, and because Bobby isn't a me-first type of guy, I'm sure most people aren't aware he took over the HS team his father coached since leaving the NBA. Bobby has a special place in Kings lore for me, even higher than any of the glory Kings including Vlade, simply because of the courage it took to return to the NBA, and give all he had. In a "me-first" "how do I look now" league, even in the 90's, Bobby was quite the opposite. I'm still proud he played the majority of his career here. I, also, think it's a major feat that Garry St. Jean accomplished with getting 39 wins with Spud Webb/Bobby Hurley/Tyus Edney as the PG's. In the current NBA it couldn't be done. I'm convinced of that.
Stinky is a loser/troll with no life. People have said the same of me, which is true, but the difference is, I get no pleasure out of making anyone miserable. I come here to get relief off my chest by expressing it here. What better place? StR is where many intelligent Kings fans preside, and I've learned a great deal more about the Kings than I ever could over any other medium. For that I'm always appreciative. And Stinky is jealous of that. He's jealous that people can have an honest and reasonable opinion without being stupid biased dipshit's. There is no other reason to flame a game thread like he did last night. I thought Blue got it right, in a comment today, when he mentioned the yeoman effort Kfan expended commenting on the game. Moving on!

Q: Is this a Petrie hire or a Maloof hire?
A: The short answer: yes. Both sides are on board, but it is Petrie driven from start to finish. Going back to their journey to Istanbul, they became closer through the years. And one thing I didn't 'mention in the story is that Levien was a Harvard Law fellow, meaning he can do the Ivy League fist pound with his new boss.

Perhaps no team in the league began the season with a lower win-total expectation than Oklahoma City, but pressure is nonetheless mounting on Carlesimo -- who nearly lost his job after last season's 20-62 farewell to Seattle -- because the young Thunder are rarely even competitive these days. The sight of a double-digit lead turning into a 20-point loss to the struggling Clippers on Wednesday prompted Oklahoma City's famously loyal fans to briefly boo their new team, which never happened when the Hornets were in town for two seasons.

A Thing of Beauty, or at least in my own abstract world it is
The Kings didn't win a championship. They didn't win anything more than a game. They beat a team, that with a loss, is at 500 for the first time in almost 100 games. The Kings didn't score more than 28 in any one qtr, but scored that total twice. The Kings didn't turn the ball over more than 14 times, but after turning the ball over 9 times at the half, that was a miracle. The Kings didn't out-rebound the Hornets, they were just simply not badly out-rebounded. Bob Licht, and Gil McGregor, the Hornets announcing team, made a huge deal of the amount of 3's the Kings had hit. Indeed, in the 1st half, they were 63% at one point. They ended up just over 33%. The game was not perfect. The Kings started the 4th qtr with a 3 min drought, and ended up scoring 28 in the next 9 mins. Bobby Jackson, having been held scoreless, didn't just come alive, but took the team along for the ride. Donte Greene didn't just perform, but he did so well it made Joe Maloof seem like a prophet. Reggie Theus had been preaching to Beno Udrih since his arrival on the shores of the Evil Cowtown, that he needed to be more aggressive. Perhaps, he needs to teach John Salmons to not take his lessons so literally. Even if Salmons practically was a one man wrecking crew with 29 points on 13 of 18 shots, and 3 of 4 at the line. The Kings weren't just hot, althought they were definitely that, ending the game with just under 55 % FG sh ooting, and having spent a large portion of the game hovering around the 60% mark. The Hornets, who built much of their large lead, until it started to dwindle right about the middle of the 2nd qtr, had 10 steals. In the 2nd half? None. Every once in awhile a game comes along that leaves you speechless. I'm not really sure what to say about this team as euphoria is the word I'm going for, but I'm not sure if that's strong enough to describe what I'm feeling about this team and this win.

In August 2007, I went to his (big man's) camp in Las Vegas and there were two college kids who became first-rounders," Stirling said from his Bay Area home. "That was (former Oak Ridge and Cal star) Ryan Anderson and Jason Thompson. That's the first time Jason showed up on our board. We scouted him pretty heavily after that."

Jason Thompson, Kings
He was a top performer at his natural power forward spot to start the season and has shown great versatility by playing decently as a small forward thanks to injuries in Sacramento. He leads the team in offensive rebounds (2.4) and is third in overall rebounds (6.5).HIs remarks regarding Bobby Brown: Bobby Brown, Kings
Undrafted in 2007, Brown has played like a more-than-capable backup point guard for a more-competitive-than-expected Kings team. He can shoot -- he has hit 8 of 17 3s -- and is a quick and crafty ball handler.

Machiavelian Schemes
Friday night you and your boys went out to eat Then they hung out,but you came home around three Now if six of yall went out Then four of you were really cheap Cause only two of you had dinner I found your credit card receipt
Its not right ,but its okay Im gonna make it anyway Pack your bags up and leave And dont you dare come Running back to me
After Friday's "Media Tour De-Force" as Scott Howard-Cooper called it, there is quite a bit of interesting stuff flying around Kings land these days. Most of it revolves around what type of thing's Reggie Theus has planned for this team, I suspect, long term, and unfortunately, my only question is why after 10 games is it such a big deal? Especially when in those first 10 games you've missed key players such as Brad Miller, Kevin Martin, and Francisco Garcia for 3 games or more. Some stuff doesn't quite meet the eye, and it's not because of the team's poor defending 3 point percentage, or the team's porous road trip. Other things pop up, like this particular quote:There's little chance Maloof came to these conclusions -- Theus needs to get a system, and, while we're at it, "he better try to get one quickly" -- without hearing it from someone with a great deal of credibility in basketball ops. Even if Joe and Gavin are the ones ultimately responsible for what goes on there. So either, it's Petrie, which I'm wondering if he would do Reggie in the back like this, or it's someone else. Who?
