So far this season Dirk has made less than one three pointer a game. That hasn't happened over an entire season since Dirk was a rookie playing 20 minutes per game.
His three point shooting percentage is actually the highest of his career right now at 42.5%, but he only attempts 2.2 from long range a game.
I know there has been an emphasis to have Dirk penetrate more and it has made him a far more dangerous player. But Dirk's best weapon will always be his shooting and I don't think there is any reason to take that away from him. Nowitzki should be attempting, on average, more than three 3's a game. I don't even mind if he forces it occasionally -- I'd rather see him take a three with a hand in his face than see Diop try a hook shot; that's for sure.
