Thursday Loss Links

Dallas is now 19-10. Last season Dallas had 52 wins when they lost their tenth game (and yes, it was to Golden State). Despite that, Dallas is only 2 games behind San Antonio for the best record in the Western Conference. Makes you realize how crazy last season was...

Not a great game (box score) last night. Down 16 in 6 minutes, Jason Terry goes 0-10, lazy passes led to 18 turnovers, and lazy offense led to shooting 26 threes.

The Mavericks were 9-of-26 from 3-point range. It's the seventh time this season they have shot 20 or more 3-pointers in a game.

They are 2-5 in those games.

Think that message might sink in someday???
Avery and Devin Harris seemed to realize it after the game.
"We just weren't very good," coach Avery Johnson said. "They came out with more intensity. They attacked the basket. We didn't. We shot jump shots."
"They were getting layups and dunks," said Devin Harris, who had 17 points and five assists. "And we're settling for jumpers. It took us too long to figure that out."

Jeff Caplan points out that Jason Terry is on pace to make the most three's in a season of his career.
Entering Wednesday's game, Jason Terry ranked seventh in the league in 3-point percentage (46.0) and fourth in 3-pointers made (64). He's on pace to surpass his career-best of 172 set during his 2001-02 season with Atlanta.

"When you're starting, maybe the flow of the game early on you may want to show-and-go and get to the paint," he said. "But, when you're coming off that bench you're taking the first available look, whether it's 3 or 2. A lot of times it's 3 for me."

This Day in Mavs History
1994 Popeye Jones had 20 rebounds, the 32nd time a Mavs player had 20+ rebounds and the 3rd of 8 times Jones had 20+ rebounds with Dallas.
