Dirk may not think Dallas vs Golden State is a big rivalry, but you would think otherwise if you were just browsing the internet today.

Golden State of Mind got ready for tonight's game in a very GSoM fashion -- bragging about last years first round victory and taking shots at those who laughed off the possibility before the series began. Most of those shots are directed at the Dallas Morning News Tim MacMahon.

It's been over half a year since the Golden State Warriors pulled off the biggest upset in NBA history by knocking off the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the 2007 Playoffs, but everytime I think of the choke-job Mavericks, those soft, inaudible Mavs fans (seriously how could those fans be so quiet during those home playoff games when the NBA's best owner Mark Cuban has been treating them so well for so many years?), and their B-Rate media- a HUGE smile comes to my face. What WE (yes, we as in the entire Warriors organization, Warriors fans and GSoMers in particular) did to them was just Unbelievable, Unforgettable, and Unstoppable Baby!

And you can be damn sure I'm not going to let them forget it- especially Tim MacMahon who writes a Dallas Mavericks blog for The Dallas Morning News (do people in Dallas even have time to read the morning paper when they're too busy stuffing their faces and getting even fatter?) and the silly commenters on that site who both foolishly tried to disrespect Warriors Nation and GSoMers.
For the most part, MachMahon takes it in stride. It's all in good fun, and I'm not about to call out any of the writers at GSoM, they're all good people (even if they keep rubbing their ballot stuffing of this sites poll in my face!)

I will say this. At some point, Warriors fans are going to have to come down off of the high they are on from advancing to the second round of the playoffs. In the big picture of the NBA, it meant nothing. You don't get a trophy for winning the first round and in ten years when people talk about the 07 playoffs they'll talk about the Spurs winning (again) and LeBron James single handedly beating Detroit to win the EAstern Conference. And Warriors fans who just take the "historic upset" angle are doing a disservice to how good their team really is/was. In my opinion, you can't get extra credit for advancing as the 8th seed when you were only the 8th seed because you under achieved for most of the regular season.

On the other hand, I can always appreciate rabid fandom...
