Game Thread: Mavericks (26-12) at Grizzlies (18-21)

WHO: The Memphis Grizzlies host the Dallas Mavericks

WHAT: I'm running out of things to say here. It's not a must-win, but it'd be nice.

WHERE: FedExForum, Memphis, TN

WHEN: 7:00pm CT

THE STORY: **UPDATE** Dirk will play, Tyson Chandler will not (illness). Our focus continues to be on the return of our superstar, Dirk Nowitzki, but the fact of the matter is, regardless of who plays, this team needs to pull out a win. The Grizzlies can run with the big boys, and with the likes of Zach Randolph and Rudy Gay, they can be just as much a challenge as anyone the Mavericks play. Then again, these days everyone is a challenge. A couple of links follow the jump, and check out the team Straight Outta Vancouver.

As always, GO MAV/BS!

Mavericks-Grizzlies Preview - NBA - Yahoo! Sports
The Dallas Mavericks have struggled mightily with their leading scorer on the sidelines, but Dirk Nowitzki could finally make a much-anticipated return. The stumbling Mavericks may have Nowitzki back for their road matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night. Dallas (26-12) fell for the seventh time in nine games without Nowitzki after losing 101-89 to San Antonio on Friday.

Inside Report: Mavericks-Grizzlies preview — Mavs hope to welcome Dirk, swagger back in Memphis
There wasn’t a lot of talking inside the Mavericks’ locker room Friday night after the team suffered a seventh loss in the last nine games, all without leading scorer Dirk Nowitzki. Gone is the swagger the Mavericks showcased while getting off to a 24-5 start.

Signs pointing to a Dirk Nowitzki return soon | Dallas Mavericks Blog |
When Dirk Nowitzki said "I'm close'' after Friday's game in San Antonio, the Mavericks probably felt their collective heart race a little. Getting him back will give this team a fighting chance to regain some sense of normalcy, even if it will be a reality without Caron Butler, who is out for the season.

Numbers demand 'D' regain edge - Dallas Mavericks Blog - ESPN Dallas
The Dallas Mavericks might or might not have Dirk Nowitzki for tonight’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Either way, they’re viewing it as a critical matchup as this four-game road trip heads to its third stop with Dallas looking for its first win. "[Tonight] is a must win, plain and simple, regardless," center Tyson Chandler said. "We’re on the road, back-to-back. It’s a must win for us right now."
