Mavs @ Grizzlies Post Game 39 Quotes "Dirk's back! ..No, wait, he's tossed." aka 'Rock Bottom'

What the Dallas Mavericks and the Memphis Grizzlies had to say
after the
Game that marked the first 15+ Point Blowout

Headnut +Kidneystrike = Painful Game.

KneeJerk Recap (TM) Jonthefon v1.27 (don't wait for it)

The Mavs (beat/lost to) [the Memphis Grizzlies ]¹ tonight (thanks to/despite) Dirk’s awesomeness being limited to 15 elbows minutes. The (cloud in the silver lining/major culprit) once more as usual was the lack of support from his team-mates, with the exception of fevering Tyson Chandler/Jason Kidd ..uhm...Ian Mahinmi?!?². Especially useless was Jason Terry /Deshawn Stevenson/Jose Barea/Shawn Marion/Brendan Haywood³ and it is (GUESS WHAT) THEY’RE ALMOST NOT ALL USELESS, sometimes even with Dirk.

¹ Inserted Opponent

² Only one of them, mind you. Chandler was sick at the hotel, so...congratz Ian!

³ Two at the minimum, up to all five of them. Talk about comraderie...

Coach Carlisle

"Quiet please. I've got an important message..."

(Say it!) "The first quarter was our undoing. Giving up 31 got us in a hole. Right now, our shotmaking isn’t there. But we’ve just got to stay with it."

(On Dirk's ejection) "He was complaining that they were holding him every time the ball was near him. So he got thrown out."

(On Ian) "Mahinmi played great, and he’s gotten better. You can tell the work he’s put in on his outside shot, on his driving to the basket and those kinds of things. It’s really paying off, and he gave us great energy. So, I love the way he played."

(Summary) "We battled and we scrapped. We held them under 90. We just really struggled to get the ball in the basket. And so, we’ve just got to keep battling. Everything is really a challenge right now, but we can’t hang our heads. We’ve got to stay positive, stick together and just keep fighting."

Dirk 'not close to 100%' Nowitzki

Obvious foul is obvious.

(On his return) "I’ve never missed three weeks in my career, but air-wise I was fine. I was running, I just couldn’t really move much. But I think my lungs were really decent. I wasn’t too gassed, I wasn’t too tired. We’ve just got to get the knee closer to 100 percent, and then we’ll be OK. I mean, hopefully, obviously."

(On the Loss) "Just being out there feels good, being out there with the guys and trying to lift our spirits. But obviously everything has been downhill sense we had two injuries. We’ve pretty much hit rock bottom. I mean, we can’t get any lower. Somehow we’ve got to scratch our way out of it. Obviously, it’s tough times right now. We’ve lost five or eight out of the last 10, so that’s never fun to go through. But you can only get better, get Tyson healthy and just keep playing hard."

(On the Mavs struggles) "Effort-wise we were there. Just for some reason we can’t score right now."

(On his ejection) "I didn’t think it was a foul, so we talked about it and I got tossed."

(What exactly was said to the Ref?) "Don't let him elbow me all day long."

Jason 'Cropduster' Terry

Hopefully vs Hops.

(Good shooting, eh?) "We’re not in rhythm right now. Our team is not in rhythm. And you can blame it on whatever you want, but it’s our job to go out and get it done. If it ain’t one thing, it’s another. Tyson out tonight, it just is what it is for us right now. But the effort was there tonight. Friday night it wasn’t there, tonight it was there. And just give Memphis the credit. They played better than us tonight."

(Tell us what's happening with the team) "We’re losing, there’s no other way to describe it. But it’s nothing that a win won’t cure. It’s tough, but it’s a long season. If we were in March or April, then we’d really be concerned. But, hey, it happens, the same way we won 10 or 11 in a row. So, Detroit ain’t gonna feel sorry for us. And we’ve got to go in there and get a win."

(On Detroit next) "Monday is another challenge for us and hopefully we'll be better."

Ian 'Best Mav tonight' Mahinmi

"The french guy has to go 1on4? Alright then."

(On himself and the team) "If you’re up 20 or if you are down 20, you want to keep fighting, you want to keep improving because you never know. I think we did a good job to keep fighting. We just missed a lot of shots. And by 'we' i mean everybody besides myself."

(On his career night) "I’m pretty happy about that, but the main fact is that we’re still losing. So, good for me, I had a good game, but I’d rather have a bad game and us win it."

Coach Hollins

"Listen carefully, O.J. You can't let Jason Terry miss more shots than you. Do you read me!?"

(On the Grizzlies) "Without Dirk Nowitzki creating a lot of havoc, we were able to play compact and play our game and then close back out on 3-pointers. They didn't have a real post presence that we had to deal with. They were tired from last night and basically short-handed without Dirk being full strength.''

(On holding the Mavs to 70) "We played solid defense, but I'm not going to stand here and say we shut down the Dallas Mavericks' 'A' game."

Rudy Gay

"French screaming High-fives incoming? - Uh oh."

(Sup) "We ran our offense, and we ran it fluently. We got people open, and we got them open at the right time. Guys got out there and made baskets. Oh and btw, vote for me @ ASG!"
