Game Thread: Mavericks (41-16) at Wizards (15-42)

New, comments

WHO: The Washington Wizards host the Dallas Mavericks

WHAT: The first time the Mavs will play Josh Howard since trading him away. You can't control what the ball do.

WHERE: Verizon Center, Washington, DC

WHEN: 7:00pm CT

HOW: League Pass | FSSW-DAL | CSN-W+ | KESN | WJFK

THE STORY: The Wizards are young (and they have Nick Young) and they are fast (uh, John Wall, anyone). The Mavericks finally have Rodrigue Beaubois back with his blazing speed to counteract the veteran effect. The Wizards haven't exactly won a lot of games, but they've hung in with the best of them, and they certainly have the talent to make a run on any team, even the surging Mavs. Check out the links after the jump, and wear your kevlar to Bullets Forever.

Mavericks-Wizards Preview - NBA - Yahoo! Sports
The limited success for the Washington Wizards this season has come on their home court. That may not matter with the NBA's hottest team visiting the Verizon Center. The Dallas Mavericks look for their fifth straight win overall and eighth in nine games on the road Saturday night when they face the Wizards for the final time this season.

Shootaround Report: Mavericks (41-16) at Wizards (15-42) - Mavs Fast Break
There figures to be a blistering pace to Saturday night’s matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and Washington Wizards. Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle just hopes that his team is prepared for what lies ahead. Hoping to avoid what the coach refers to as a "windshield-wiper game," Carlisle emphasized the importance of transition defense at the Mavericks’ Saturday morning shootaround. And with the up-tempo play of rookie John Wall on the horizon, Carlisle knows that the Mavs may be in for a fast-paced showdown, whether he likes it or not.

Josh Howard finally gets shot at Mavs - Dallas Mavericks Blog - ESPN Dallas
Josh Howard will finally get to face his old club since the big trade a year ago. Howard tore his ACL just a few games into his tenure with the Washington Wizards. He returned Dec. 18, had discomfort in his knee and came back again Feb. 13. Josh Howard, who plays against the Mavs for the first time since he was traded to the Wizards, was a decent complement to Dirk Nowitzki. He's played just 12 games this season and Saturday's game against the Dallas Mavericks will be his first against the Mavs.
