Game Thread: Knicks (34-29) at Mavericks (46-18)

WHO: The Dallas Mavericks host the New York Knicks

WHAT: A chance for the Mavs to prove they aren't flaccid.

WHERE: American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX

WHEN: 8:30pm CT

HOW: TNT | FSSW-DAL | KESN | TSN2

THE STORY: The Mavs are soft. And those are Coach Rick Carlisle's words, not mine. But it's hard to argue when you look at the leads we've completely blown in the last several games. The Knicks have benefited greatly from Carmelo Anthony, and we all know he can score in buckets when he plays Dallas. Peja Stojakovic's status is (as of the writing of this post) unknown, as is that of Chauncey Billups. The game is on TNT, so it should definitely be interesting. Check out the links after the jump, and spend the evening Posting and Toasting.

**update** Peja is not playing, Marion will try to tough it out. Thanks, @ballinwithbryan

Here is a good link for the stream. Thanks, ckntem!

Knicks-Mavericks Preview - NBA - Yahoo! Sports
A matchup with the Dallas Mavericks wouldn't usually give the New York Knicks their best chance for a fourth straight win and their longest streak since acquiring Carmelo Anthony last month. Anthony, though, had one of his best scoring performances earlier this season against the Mavericks, and he'll try for a repeat while attempting to lead the Knicks to a rare win in the series Thursday night.

Knicks-Mavericks preview — Mavs welcome 'Melo, S.T.A.T., Knicks to Big D
The Dallas Mavericks plan to address their recent rash of one-point losses, and there’s no better time to do so than on a national stage Thursday night against the star-studded New York Knicks, as the Mavs look to end a stretch of four games in five nights with a win on their home floor.

Jason Terry: 'We ain't soft'; So why did Rick Carlisle say Mavs were?
It's always dangerous to guess what another person is thinking, but it's a fair bet that when Rick Carlisle used the word "soft'' to describe the Mavericks' showing at New Orleans Wednesday night, he was trying to deliver a message to make sure that any hint of softness is erased before it really becomes full-fledged fluffiness.

Dallas Mavericks Blog: Brewer Vs. Melo, Soft Mavs and FreeRoddyB
Rick Carlisle apparently has precious little faith in Corey Brewer at this point. There’s no other explanation for Brewer riding the bench for the entire game Wednesday night, when Peja Stojakovic didn’t play due to a stiff neck and Shawn Marion went out midway through the third quarter due to bruised ribs.
