Rick Carlisle has announced that the Mavericks will sign Derek Fisher, effective Thursday. Although certain Mavs fans see this as a sign of the apocalypse, certain Mavs fans are currently prepared, understandably, to see all things as a sign of the apocalypse. I'm not telling how to feel, I'm just telling you the Mavs had Dojo starting at point the last two games, and at one point had seven straight TOs in a game they lost by 2.
Derek Fisher, late of the OKC Thunder, possibly undead, still managed to score 8.5ish and assist 4ish between OKC and LAL last year. This move won't win the Mavs a championship, but should provide some stability to what has become a godawful position for the Mavericks these last few games.
Not immediately clear how the Mavericks will make room for Fisher, but we'll get back to you on that. Here's hoping he doesn't have to play much.
UPDATE: Per a million Mavericks sources, Fisher has been signed and Troy Murphy has been the sacrificial pig. This could open up minutes for either Bernard James or Brandan Wright while Fisher is apparently going to take over as the starting point guard, eventually.
