For those of you who were looking forward to seeing Jared Cunningham, our first-round draft selection, show his stuff at Summer League in Vegas, you might have to wait a little longer. Today, during the media presser with Rick Carlisle, Donnie Nelson and the three rookies, the news came out that Cunningham had injured his hamstring during the pre-draft workout with the Mavericks. They don't think it's serious, but why force it?

From Eddie Sefko at Dallas Morning News:

"He's got a hamstring that we're working on getting better and we're going to be able to do some things on the floor with him in terms of footwork, shooting, those kinds of things,'' coach Rick Carlisle said. "But how much he actually plays in the summer-league games or if he plays at all is to be determined. But the important thing is that we get him completely healthy and ready for Sept. 28 when veterans camp starts.''

Don't be too down, Mavs fans. We still have Bernard James and Jae Crowder to look forward to, and we might get to see Cunningham play a little bit if he's feeling up to it. All three rookies seemed to give a great first impression and are excited to be a part of our organization. See? There's good news to be had! Minus, you know, the whole hamstring thing.

Damn it.
