Dallas Mavericks' 24th overall pick Jared Cunningham has officially joined the Dallas Mavericks, becoming the second draft pick to sign this week, after Jae Crowder. Like the Crowder contract, terms have not yet been disclosed.

Cunningham did not participate in the Las Vegas Summer League due to an ongoing hamstring injury sustained at the Chicago pre-draft camp. It seems his absence was more precautionary, however, and that Cunningham could have potentially played:

"I’m disappointed, but the hamstring is fine now," said Cunningham, after sitting immediately in front of Mavericks owner Mark Cuban at Saturday’s game against San Antonio. "I’ve been going to all our (summer-league) workouts, getting a couple of workouts in the morning, getting on the bike, getting treatment. I’m working with the team, just not playing in the games."

This at least gives some optimism for Cunningham not having to deal with lingering issues during the season, when Dallas might need every bit of guard help they can, after most of the roster(and especially the guard rotation) has been overhauled.

FSU Center Bernard James has not yet been signed, and I don't know if it's reading too much into circumstance to think that suggests something about what Dallas plans to do with James(send him to the Texas Legends).
