This Friday Poll is the first of a weekly series which I am restarting here on Mavs Moneyball. It's about as straight forwards as it gets: every Friday, I'll ask some sort of poll question that is relevant to the Dallas Mavericks. I've tried to do this in the past but have been unable to keep up with it consistently, but I will be able to keep this up consistently in the coming months. Some days I may include a couple paragraphs about the question, other times it might be a sentence, but there will always be some sort of poll. I'm going to start out with a bit of an easy one.
Today's question: Who should the Mavericks' starter be at SG this coming season?
With Darren Collison, the point guard position appears to be set for the Mavericks. However, Darren's backcourt mate is more up in the air. OJ Mayo seems like the obvious candidate, but he played as a sixth man in Memphis and is replacing Jason Terry, so there is some reason to think he might come off the bench. Another option is Rodrigue Beaubois, who has had the role in the past with some success. Dahntay Jones could start in a DeShawn Stevenson-type role, providing an initial defensive presence while stretching the floor. Other candidates such as Delonte West and Vince Carter could potentially fill the role well, though they seem to be dark horses at best.
We're still months away from training camp, so there isn't much information out on how the players are performing or who the coaching staff is leaning towards. Therefore, this question is more about who you would start, not who you think will end up starting.
