The Mavericks and the Magic have been meeting to discuss the possibility of a trade for Dwight Howard, but according to Mike Fisher, the Lakers have more to offer the Magic than Dallas does.
Nelson suggests that there are offers on the table for Dwight that "trump'' what Dallas can present now or in the near future, which includes expiring contracts, the promise of cap space, and maybe the willingness to take back contract ballast.
However, all is not lost if you're of the belief that the Mavericks need Howard. If he decides to stay with the Magic this season, Dallas comes out as the HEAVY favorite for Dwight's desired location because the Nets and Lakers wont have cap space to offer him a 4-year contract next season. Also, if Howard gets dealt to Houston now, they'd be able to offer him a 5-year contract next year but he would have the option of walking... to a more desirable location (read: Dallas).
I know this is still going on and I know we're tired of hearing about it, but there you go.
