As expected, no Mavericks were even close to sniffing a start at the All-Star game this February. The starers were just announced and here they are:
WEST
PG: Chris Paul
SG:Kobe Bryant
SF: Kevin Durant
PF: Blake Griffin
C: Dwight Howard
EAST:
PG: Rajon Rando
SG: Dwyane Wade
SF: LeBron James
PF: Carmelo Anthony
C: Kevin Garnett
No names really surprise me. Despite the Lakers putrid record, Kobe Bryant is leading the league in scoring and having the most efficient season of his career so far. Dwight Howard has been a shell of his former self, especially defensively, but he's still averaging 17 and 12 with two blocks. And it's not like the West is just loaded at center.
In the East, it looks about right. Kevin Garnett might raise some eyebrows, but he's been great this season and probably the most consistent Celtic. Of course, Tyson Chandler SHOULD be starting here, and I'm a little surprised the New York fan base didn't get that done.
No Mavericks, of course. O.J. Mayo has a shot to be the only Mavs represented in Houston, but other then that, this might be the first year no Mavericks make the All-Star team since before Dirk became the Dirk we all know and love over a decade ago.
