Four Pointer: Previewing the Orlando Magic

Some thoughts to get us started for tonight's opponent.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

What did the Magic do over the summer?

The Magic, of course, traded Dwight Howard away for prospects and cap space and draft picks (oh my!) 13 months ago. After having the worst record in the NBA last season, they drafted Victor Oladipo second overall. But the rest of their summer wasn't much to write home about, adding veterans Jason Maxiell, Ronnie Price and Romero Ostby. We'll have a Q&A going up a little later today with Orlando Pinstriped Post to get their perspective on where the Magic are going with this.

What team stat might determine the game?

Rebounding. Nicola Vucevic is going to be the best guy on the boards in this game, no question. We all know the Mavs are a high scoring team, but they need to be careful not to underestimate Orlando here.

What stat, player or random fact might surprise you about the Magic?

On a young, rebuilding team, their highest paid player is 34 year old Hedo Turkgolu at $12,000,000.

What do the Mavs need to do to win against the Magic?

The Mavs SHOULD have an easy time of it, but they are on the second night of a back to back and on the road again. They just need to play their game, control the pace and not make too many mistakes and they ought to be just fine.

We'll have a Q&A with Orlando Pinstriped Post going up later today - until then, happy Saturday Mavs fans!
