Dallas has assigned Ricky Ledo down to the D-League's Texas Legends, a squad associated with the Mavericks.
It was an expected move, just taking a matter of time since the D-League starts its game later than the NBA (here's a link to their schedule). The official press release:
DALLAS - The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have assigned Ricky Ledo to the Texas Legends of the NBA Development League.
Ledo (6-7, 200) has seen action in six games for the Mavericks and holds averages of 1.2 points and 2.6 minutes per game.
Ledo will join the Legends and be available for tonight's game when they take on the Tulsa 66ers at 7:00 pm CT at the Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco.
Ledo's assignment does not free up a roster spot, although he will obviously be inactive for the Mavericks on game days. He has played six games but for only 16 minutes, only coming in late for garbage time.
The Mavericks have history with sending young players down. Jared Cunningham did that at times last year, and J.J. Barea is a well-known D-League success story.
Best of luck to the rook. We'll keep you posted on his progress and maybe, just maybe, make it down to one of their games at some point this year.
