Chris Kaman Interested in Returning to Dallas

Friend of Mavs Moneyball Dwain Price reports Kaman would like to return next season

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

With four games left in a decided season, we at Mavs Moneyball are turning our thoughts to the off season, to hope. With that in mind, we hear the news that Chris Kaman is interested in returning to Dallas. Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star Telegram has more:

Kaman has been in and out of the starting lineup this season because of his inconsistency, and is averaging 10.8 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.

Despite all of that, Kaman believes he and the Mavs are a perfect match.

"I'd love to be back, but I don't know what's going to happen with the organization,'' Kaman said after Friday morning's shoot around at American Airlines Center. "I don't know what's going to happen with the team -- I have no idea.

This isn't exactly shocking. He's been paid exceedingly well and Dallas is a top notch organization.

However, it really has been an up and down season for Kaman and he still believes he's a starter. Despite not being fond of his contributions, I've been pleased with his professionalism despite the uncertainty of his minutes and role. Compare his reactions to that of a Dwight Howard and there's a night and day difference.

I really wouldn't mind having Kaman back under the right circumstances. This is obviously a bit at odds with my thoughts on him this season, but that has more to do with his role within the team which is not entirely on him.

Would you want Kaman back under the right circumstances or do you want him gone regardless?
