After Andrew Bynum elected to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers, news quickly came that the Mavericks had contacted Greg Oden's camp to formally enter the race:
Hearing: Dallas Mavs will get "legit consideration" from Greg Oden along with teams previously in his top three: Heat, Spurs and Cavs
— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) July 11, 2013
Oden has played a total of 82 games in his career since being drafted number 1 overall in 2007. His career unfortunately plagued by a series of knee injuries and surgeries, Oden sat out the 2012-13 season to focus on rehab and getting back to form for 2013-14.
Early reports are that he may take his time before making a decision, however:
W/the caveat that things change (i.e., people lie): hearing Greg Oden will take his time to decide where he's going--maybe into August.

With the Mavericks also talking to Samuel Dalembert this week, and in desperate need of center help, will they be able to afford to wait on a decision from Oden?
More as this develops.
