Dallas and Cents: Backs Against the Wall

A look around the net about what's being said about the Dallas Mavericks.

Chris Covatta

Good afternoon folks, I hope everyone is ready for this. It's going to be EPIC.

  • Ian Levy (@HickoryHigh) of Hardwood Paroxysm has a quick bit about the Mav-Spurs rivalry. Players change, but the feel of a match-up steeped in history like this one is amazing.
  • Tim McMahon at ESPNDallas rightly mentions that this could very well be the last game of Shawn Marion in a Maverick uniform. I have a lot to say on this, which I won't now. But I hope it's not his last, no matter what happens. He's been a huge part of my Maverick fandom.
  • Keeping with Tim, he also has a great piece on the dominance of Dirk in do-or-die games. Love Dirk, y'all. He's been a warrior for Dallas for more than half my life.
  • I've shared this before, but man it's worth sharing again. Connor Huchton on these 'perfect' Mavs: "But for all that, these 2014 Dallas Mavericks belong to neither the future nor the past, right now. They are not yet the thing they might someday be, and they are not quite finished being this thing they are, either. And in the interim they're shining so fucking bright, if you tilt your head just the right way. Do that. Look, before the eclipse takes them somewhere far away. What else is there to watch?"
  • Kelly Dwyer of Yahoo's Ball Don't Lie has six pressing questions about the Game Six Madness around the NBA, two of them about Dallas.
  • Grantland's Zach Lowe looks at all the teams playing tonight. He thinks Dallas has a chance still.
  • Shared this video before, but it's so, so, so good.

My God, the chills.

  • Finally, some inspiration:

See y'all tonight! Mavs Fan For Life!
